UPDATE BELOW
I have made this page on
behalf of the chatters of Freetown.Early in March of
1999,the snitch button was replaced by an
ignore/unignore button.I have since seen and talked
to many citizens who are not happy with the
change.When a chatter(citizen or non-citizen)uses the
ignore button on another,it only ignores public posts
not private messages.If you can't ignore someone
totally,what then is the purpose of the
button?
If pm's could also be ignored,then this
option would be helpful,especially to
non-citizens.Many citizens however,would prefer to
have the snitch button back.
Another drawback of the ignore/unignore
button is it's affect on Webtv Plus.Because the
button uses Java script,it does not work at all on
Webtv Plus.A blank pm will be sent to the intended
person instead of an anonymous choice to ignore or
snitch.One suggestion I have seen is for chatters to
be given a choice of options,both snitch and
ignore/unignore,however because of the Java script
involved this would probably not work for Webv Plus
either.
UPDATE:8/31/99
The problems with the ignore/unignore button were
fixed soon after this page was first made.Your
comments helped FreeTown become aware of the them.I'd like to thank bond for all his work on fixing the
ignore/unignore button.It now works for
everyone,including Webtvers, but alot of people still want the snitch
button back.The guestbook is still open for comments
but please keep it clean and no advertising.Thank
you.
