~MAINE COAST CONTINUED~
Acadia National Park attracts thousands of visitors each year, and one of the most popular sites is Thunder Hole. Even at a distance, I could hear the "thunder" as the surf rolled in the "hole" and slammed against the rocks.

Another popular site in Acadia Park is Sand Beach! We were there on a misty afternoon.

Maine is for lobsters!
, they say, and Ben and I sure ate our share. With "cookers" like these, you can see that lobster-steaming is serious business!
The lobster shack on Bailey Island is a favorite scene for photographers. With boats in front and bouys decorating the side, it becomes a colorful scene. I learned that lobstermen register their bouys and in return, receive a licensed set of colors which they use for identification. And a set of colors is often passed down, from one generation to the next.
A lobster can't be harvested until it's 5-6 years old, a lobsterman told us. Each lobster is "caught" many times and tossed back. Unfortunate for the lobster, this one turned out to be a
keeper

Ben and I made a second trip to Maine, and this time we drove North. Move to the next page for Northern Maine's fall foliage.
