'Recollection'
(a ballad)

One day while searching
through her old hope chest
she came across his photo
and laid it upon her breast

Memories washed over her
of those long, lost days
when life was so full
and her heart was ablaze

Sitting back on the bed
and closing her eyes
she recalled his voice
and the sound of his sighs

"My Sweet Baby", she whispered
in a soft, silken voice
"I still miss you, my darling.
I think we made the wrong choice"

As she moved the photo down
in her lap to view,
a teardrop fell upon it
with more to ensue.

Brushing aside the dampness
as her thumb made it's trace,
she looked upon his image
oh, how well she knew his face

She remembered his laughter
and the way he made her feel
His effervescet presence
, full of charm and appeal

Why, oh why, she thought,
did they make the choice they did
To put aside their love
and enslave their hearts hid

Now, all these years later
still alone in her life,
once again she thinks of him
and how she longed to be his wife

"In our next lifetime," she solomenly says
with conviction in her voice,
"We shall be together,
there will be no other choice."

Then, away she tucked his photo,
amongst her other cheerished things
but, she kept with her the memories
that thoughts of him always brings...

'Always Yours'

I saw you sitting there in the corner,
with your eyes wide,
serenely watching the crowd that surrounded you.
I knew from the start that you were
different...
you were someone that I wanted,
NEEDED
in my life.
I knew I wanted to be close to you,
it was all I could think of,
day
after
day...
night
after
night...
You.
Always you, sometimes near,
often so far away.
Breathing your air, being in
the same room as you was
and
still
is
intoxicatingly devine.
Resisting you was thought of,
but as brief as the
first soft, sweet kiss
you bestowed my heart...
Oh, how you captured
all that was me in that
moment when you let yourself
be loved by me.
Of all the songs we have
shared together,
the sweetest one is
the melody that arises
within our hearts as
they race together
in the glory
of that which is
"us".

My heart will always
belong to yours...

'Love Was The Key'
(a kyrielle sonnet)

Long ago, a little girl dreamed
The need was already there, it seemed
She knew deep in her own essence
Love was the key to her existence

Poems she wrote of, as a lost teen
Spoke of the love she oft would dream
Never did she put up resistence
Love was the key to her existence

Mistakes were made along the way
But, she never did give up or stray
Her heart was filled with persistence
Love was the key to her existence

Love found it's way with great prominence
Love was the key to her existence

'A Moment's Bliss'

I leave you with a gentle kiss
a soft touch 'goodbye', a moment's bliss.
The days will pass while our hearts yearn
But, before you know it, I'll return
Tomorrow seems to always be
the time for 'us', for you and me...

'A Stranger Sleeps In My House'

Each morning he kisses my cheek goodbye,
as he embarks on a new day
of adventure.
Classes at school skipped here,
another fender-bender with
the car there,
a lie, more lies
to cover lies.
At eleven, he asked me
to quit smoking
(I did)
and by 15 he had
his own smokestack,
walking the dogs
voluntarily at night,
thinking me too stupid
to not know.
Often, I tell him
I've been there...
I once was a teenager, too.
Too hard for him to believe,
I guess.

Sometimes for me, too.

I remember kissing his feet
when they were 3 inches long,
singing him songs.
I bet he don't remember...

He has a license to worry me
in his pocket.
Proud of it he is.
I jump whenever the phone
rings, now, sometimes
too afraid to answer it,
thinking it might be...bad...

It has been before...
not as bad as it could
have been, but bad enough.

I want to hold onto him tightly,
never let anything bad happen
to him, yet I know I can't
always be there.
I try to guide him the best I can,
but it doesn't always work.

I will fight every step of the way,
as much as he makes me,
to guide him...to teach him...
responsibility, love, respect,
honesty, humility...
I can only hope a little of it
sinks in...some of it is retained.
I know I'm far from perfect
and have made my own mistakes,
and I know he has to make his.

Let Him give me strength.

It's hard having a stranger

'You Still Remain'
(a rubaiyat sonnet)

As your distant voice fades, I close my eyes
Still echoing the room are our whispered cries
Deep into the night, you and I became one again
Molding our bodies, almost to sunrise

Gathering the blankets tightly up under my chin,
My mind floods with memories of our wanton bare skin
I still feel flushed with the fever of you
Remembering the plateau our passions had been

The candles still flicker, almost as if on queue
Dancing with my memories, still fresh and new
The scent of you lingers, your taste yet remains
The morning is filled with the essence of you

As I finally drift off, on the bed that we'd lain
I hug my pillow tightly, as I call out your name...

'Midnight Til Three'

Midnight strikes
as she peels possessive
fingers from his arm,
the moon's bright-eyed stare
guiding her every move.
Fingers entwined now in her own,
she faces him...
finally.
Eyes lovingly explore
his facial contours,
every crevice she so adores.
A hand reaches
to touch a strand of fallen hair,
fingers lightly brush across
slightly parted lips
and the cool night air
is filled with him.
Closing her eyes,
she softly lays her head
against his chest,
and pulls up his hand
to lay against her own breast.
Now and forever,
she'll always remember the
feel of him...

'Til Your Return'
(a Terza Rima Sonnet)

It was so hard to say goodbye
When last I saw you yesterday
I tried to smile instead of cry

Now you are gone, and here I stay
With candles lit to guide you back
And keep you safe by Him, I pray

Sadness threatens to turn days black
Your touch is what I so willingly yearn
My heart is having a lovesick attack

But, through the long hours 'til your return
Our love shall help to keep me in smiles
Everlasting it is, onward it churns

I'll listen to 'our song' for a while
Loving you across the miles...

'Fallen Dreams'
(a Shakesperian Sonnet)

Fallen dreams awaken a good night's sleep
Only to slumber in it's own destiny
Those dreams we long to hold on to and keep
Can one day grind our souls in agony

Oh, to be brave enough to taste fates' petals
And to reach out for the blossoms that fall our way
Lends our own hearts to the truth that nettles
For our dreams often lie in the future's day

As dreams fall from our grasp, in love's own wake
We often wonder why our hearts took such a chance
Sometimes we love for love's own sake
Or we're just caught up in loves' hypnotic trance.

Fallen dreams I'd take over none at all
For I could not pass the chance to answer love's call

'Reach Deep Inside'

Reach deep inside and see the truth
of what lies beneath my thoughts.
A customized, pool of emotion
that was born within, not taught.

Complete in tow, is the silhouette
of a love that was meant to be.
It all makes sense...somehow, someway,
that it is my heart's destiny.

The truth, you know, is plain and clear
don't let your inner fears clog your mind.
For things are not always as you think they appear,
It is sometimes you who is willingly blind...

'Swelling Limerick'

He displays his manhood so well
It puts me under his spell
When I get on my knees,
he says "oh yes, please!"
And his shaft begins to swell

'Knightly Friendship Limerick'

I know a Knight faraway
whose friendship I cheerish each day.
He's very special to me
I'm a sincere devotee
And I'm thankful for him everyday.

(written for my good friend, The Last Knight)

'Icecream Limerick'

If I were chocolate ice cream,
would you come to me in my dream?
You could eat me with cake
until I awake
Or just lick me until I scream!

'Poetess Limerick'

There is a young poetess from Aussie
who is sweet and kind, and not bossy.
When she writes a love sonnet
her heart is tagged on it
and some are even a bit saucy!

(written for my good friend, ThunderStorm!)

'Cheerish Love'
(a Villanelle)

Cheerish love that is rare and true,
Believe, and you'll discover why.
Take a chance, when that special love finds you.

Hold your heart open as others should do,
Give of yourself, you can if you try.
Cheerish love that is rare and true.

Don't be afraid to start life anew,
Love can still come after a long kiss goodbye.
Take a chance, when that special love finds you.

Soulful love happens to so very few,
If it happens to you, don't question why.
Cheerish love that is rare and true.

It can happen when you least expect it to,
Give in to your heart, don't deny.
Take a chance, when that special love finds you.

Try to be patient when love is long-overdue
Be kind to your own heart, to yourself rely.
Cheerish love that is rare and true,
Take a chance, when that special love finds you.

'Night'
(cinquain trio)

Whispers
Late in the night
Bodies entwined as one
Feverish passions exploding
Rapture

Quiet
Deep in the night
Black nothingness abounds
Time has no meaning or value
Silence

Twilight
Grins at the day
Chiding its' way to night
The sun blinks as it fades away
Darkness

'As Time Goes By'
(a Sestina Sonnet)

As time goes by, the love between us grows
No matter the days of frustrated pain
Our hearts bloom well together, united
Bonded ideals grown from shared passions
And truth in trust bade deep between us
Forever, my tender heart I bestow you

A stranger, never was I to you
And still our friendship continually grows
Never have I known any other like 'us'
We share the joys of our lives, and the pain
While beneath, never far, blazes our passions
Always eager to dwell in splendor, united

None shall ever prevent us being united
For, we know you are me and I am you
We build our dreams with our deepest passions
As our years together comforts and grows
Now we know the truth in love's own pain
Because we know what it is like to be 'us'

No regrets being said, though, between us
In our own misery we are united
While striving for the truth, we found the pain
I gladly accept the cruelty to have you
And with resolution, that thought grows
Just as well do the firey passions

One look, one word from you, urges my passions
Time then stands still, but how long for us?
Emptiness filled, yet restlessness grows
Until the day we are truly united
And I can lie softly against you
Only that shall subside my heart's pain

Love's joy, the brother of his love's pain
Each, conquering it's brand of passions
I share each one with, and for, only you
Together, we will always be 'us'
A love that is unique and united
One that continually evolves and grows

As our love grows, so does our passions
While the pain ebbs to another day for us
I, in our love united, have become you

'A Simple Task'

The last rung on the ladder feels occupied,
which leaves one feeling so unsatisfied.
A little crumb is all that's asked,
no great burden just a simple task.
Forsake one not by untimely fate,
look deep within, for it's never too late.
A morsel here, a morsel there,
makes one great meal for two to share.
A fading light grows dimmer without care,
when the golden hour is suddenly so bare.
The impossible aches that never cease,
dig deep inside and steal the peace.

'Hoping'

She sits there in silence, as the love song begins
with her eyes shifted downward, until the song ends.
She feels so alone, in the big crowded room
and keeps hoping that someone will ask her to dance soon.

Her hand shakes as she raises her glass to her lips
She feels so self-conscious, as she takes some small sips.
Alone she sits, at this table in the room
and keeps hoping that someone will ask her to dance soon.

She hums to herself, the love song's melody,
for she knows them all by heart and sings them in key.
She's so shy and lonely, sitting at this table in the room
and she keeps hoping that someone will ask her to dance soon.

Another song begins to play, and the lights are turned low
then she sees a man walk toward her, with no one else in tow.
Her smile fades as he walks past her, to the other side of the room
but she keeps hoping that someone will ask her to dance soon...

'We Began Before Then'

I remember that day so clear in my head
We both were nervous, we both were scared.
But, we climbed up that hill to see the other side
Our conversation was open, we had nothing to hide.

Shy smiles beamed bright on that moonlit night
Everything seemed perfect and it felt so right.
We opened our hearts for each other to come in
And not long after we knew that passion would win.

When our skin touched for the very first time,
I knew you were special, I knew you were mine.
But, I realize now that 'we' began before then
You captured my heart, early way back when.

Sometimes I would see you from back afar
Your essence was more brilliant than the Northern Star.
In awe, I watched as you turned on your charms
And longed to be in your passionate arms.

Then one day, your gaze lingered longer my way
And our journey of love began that sweet day.
We sang the same tune of a courting melody
As our hearts danced in excited reverie.

I cheerish our union like none before
You are the one that I love and adore.
Forever you're a part of my very soul
With special immeasureable worth untold.

Whenever you see a bright moonlit night
Remember the day our passions first took flight...

'In Silence'

Your quiet cries echo loudly with pain
I can feel you suffering in silence
Comfort may be found in friendships you've gained
Honest, open hearts lend true credence
Toss me the key, let's unlock your chains

'Lost'

Looking around,
she can't find him.
He is there,
somewhere...
isn't he?
Looking in all corners
nooks and crannys,
but still she can't find him.
Call out a search team,
dial
9-1-1
and get some help
fassssssst.
Binoculars go up,
lights blare
and
all she can do is stare.

Is he there somewhere?

Fingers bleeding red
from digging down deep,
trying to reincarnate
him.

Screaming blocks out
all other sounds for her,
and she realizes
it is herself.
Screaming.

She can't find him.
She knows that now,
knows he is lost
forever...

'Distant Voices'

Distant voices call to me,
inviting me to partake in a nightmare.
Blackness pervades
as I struggle in the depths
of the anguish that awaited me there.
Screams echo and I sit up in bed.
Then, I realize...
I never actually went to
asleep.

'I Wonder'

I wonder
if someone will now
make Frank Sinatra
sing and dance in
a Pepto Bismo commercial,
making us all sick
enough to drink it...
Maybe even animate him,
to make more
dough.

Always more dough.

That's the key,
that's what makes this world
of ours go round
and round and round
and round the merry
go round.

I don't know about you,
but it just makes me
ddddiiizzzzyyyy...

Sorry, Frank.

Rest in peace, Blue Eyes...

'Naked Eyes'

Sometimes it is hard to recognize
when we hurt the ones we love.
Silence, often golden in form,
can be the catalystic shove.

Unspent energy of tears held back
fester amongst the ruins of pain.
Acknowledging the price that's paid
for what one had sought to gain.

A momentary lapse in thought
of how sensitive hearts can hurt.
For the one you love thinks not of you,
and naked eyes of pain avert...

'Come Out Of The Darkness'

Come out of the darkness...
I see you,
hiding there in the shadows
with your cape of
discontent wrapped
tightly around you.
Your shallow breath
haunts the night air
with it's steamy chill
and melancholy,
lifelessness.
That spark I see in
those eyes you
normally mask
so well are not
of mischievousness,
but of bitter
comtempt for
that part of
you that is lost
within.
Your tear-stained
heart broods
the darkness
that surrounds you,
leaving no easy
escape from misery
back to normalcy.
Come out of the darkness,
and let the light
back in...

'Listen To Them Sing'

When angels sing their soft lullabies,
they can often still hear the silent cries
of those who have loved and lost their heart
and are shattered from within, torn apart.

Their heavenly voices can often sway
a heart to mend thru the brutal days.
When love's unfair hand has touched them wrong,
the angels sweetly sing them heartfelt songs.

But, some are deaf to these comforting voices
and leave their aching hearts so few choices.
They grieve their whole lives, 'til the very end
without giving their hearts enough room to mend.

The next time you hear sweet angels singing
in choruses of harmonic, soulful ringing,
listen to their words to soothe the pain
for when you close your heart, you have naught to gain.

'Kiss Me'

Kiss me like you mean it,
first with your eyes, then your lips.
Trace your finger down the side of my face,
as your body presses my hip.
Kiss me into that breathless state,
the kind that melts my soul.
Whisper my name, over and again,
make me loose my self-control.
Kiss me with all your passion,
leave none to waste away.
Quinch my thirst for love from you,
ravish me where I lay...

'Dreams Might Come True'

When moonlight shines on the face of man's earth
And all is dark and so quiet around
Some of us will ponder on our own self-worth.

Thoughts of what could have been abound
Have we led the best life that was possible?
Is it all we thought we would have found?

Dreams of a different life can seem unreachable
As far from reality as Armageddon
Like a sword through a stone in a famous fable.

It's when the night falls, and it seems less forbidden
That our dreams feel just a moment away
And that's when we can feel what we keep so hidden.

If we could have moonlight to replace each new day
Then, our dreams might come true and continuously stay...

(a terza rima sonnet)
