Not too sure what I can say about cats, this page came mostly from my daughter bugging me about getting kitties up on the net too! ..LOL We have four cats in our family who are indoor creatures.. *but tend to live in the garage during the Christmas season otherwise they chew through the cords on the christmas tree lights*. But anyhow two of our cats are Tonkinese, Koko, our male, however is a seal point Tonk and Yum-Yum, our female is a blue point, which is lighter then a seal point..but darker then the lilac...getting confused yet?...I know I was when I first discovered all the differences in 'points'...hmmmm...what the heck is a point anyway...and what is a Tonkinese?!
If you followed the link in the above section, you'll have read about how the Tonkinese are playful and intelligent...and how they are a 'door greeter' type of cat...I can easily attest to this...there isn't a time that I don't come home...to find Koko and Yum-Yum waiting at the door for me, and greeting me with their meows. I have also found that Tonkinese are wonderful to have around children!
Ok, the next question I promised to answer was, 'what are points' ...well, if you really think about this, it's gonna make sense: FACE, LEGS, EARS, and TAIL. Those are the points. As to what colors can exist...well, there's Seal point, Blue Point, Lilac Point, Lynx Point, Chocolate Point, *the list does go on!*
Another type of breed that I have a great interest in is the Bengal. This cat is so reminiscent of the wild cats that roam Africa (mostly the leopards).. it's amazing! Bengals are active, talkative cats who love to play! They are very muscular, long lean and substantial, but not oriental or foreign. Their hind legs are longer than the forelegs, with the shoulders being muscular. Because of the unique Bengal build it gives the Bengal a very fluid walk.. enhancing it's wild attributes.
![]() The male is must more muscular than the female.. his neck will become solid muscle. Boning of the Bengal is very robust and not to be delicate nore too heavy that the appealing elegance be lost. Bengals will exhibit characteristics that enhance it's wild appearance, large, built up whisker pads, medium small rounded ears, white or light underbelly, with contrasting spots, a soft (pelt like) fur, sharp contrasted large spotting patter, medium long, and a well muscled body.... Now mind you... they may look like a wild cat.. but they are some of the most friendliest... socialized cats that I have encountered! (as long as it's reared right like any animal) **also please do heed the warning that is on the Bengal link** Just like with the Tonkinese.. there are different "assortments" of the Bengal.. the one that most interests me is called the Snow Leopard. Here's a very good example of one. ![]() ![]() The pictures were from the pages of Foothill Felines. This is the exact same cat.. the picture on the right is of her at 10 weeks of age.. and the picture of her is at 6 months of age... they sure grow up pretty!.. and I guess you can see by this page.. where my tastes in cats lay.. light cats.. with darker contrasts.. and GREAT PERSONALITIES!
Well, I could go on and on, as many of you can tell, but I won't, simply because things get too boring and reduntant at times, but I won't forget to mention my other two cats, who are just as loved, Bilbo, and Ricki, two of the greatest 'non purebreed' cats that I have ever owned. And well loved in this house. If you're interested in what kinds of cats, and breeders are in your area, give this list a look at, it may save you time and energy in the future. Fancier, Breeder, Referral List. Just a little personal reminder here folks, if you've read down this far. Please do not let your animals breed freely every cycle! Take some responsibility! Too many times I have seen people be so happy because their animals are pregnant, but that awe quickly wears off when YOU are the one that has to clean up after them around the house, and these animals end up in homes at too early of an age! *or worse!* and that is detrimental for the animals health in the long run. If you can't take responsibilty, SPAY AND NEUTER!
