Read all about me!

What could you possibly want to know about me? Well, my name is Mandy Lynn St. John. I'm 26 years old, born October 29, 1975. I've lived almost my entire life in Ohio, the first 19 or so in East Palestine (in the farm country near the Ohio/Pennsylvania border.) I lived most of my college years in Youngstown, then moved around the state after graduation. Now I'm living in a house in sunny Naples, Florida. The weather is pretty happy (but very hot!) and it's nice to be near the Gulf of Mexico. I just can't get over how ugly palm trees are, though!

Physically, I'm around 5'4" tall and of average weight. I like to call my eyes green because when I get really angry or upset the color changes to a really pretty bright green color, but on normal days, they are partly green, dominated by brown. My hair is a auburn/copper-ish shade, with new golden highlights (thanks L'Oreal!)

So, what do I do with my life? I graduated high school in 1994 as Valedictorian of Crestview High School. Then, on June 20, 1998, I graduated from Youngstown State University--I am now the proud owner of a BS in Ed (K-8 Elementary Education) degree. At college I worked for YSU's Official Website and was also a part of the University Scholars program, which means that I was an honor student with a full-ride scholarship. After graduation I just kind-of bummed around for a few months to give myself a break until I found my calling at (don't laugh at me) Wal-Mart. After I moved to Columbus, I took a job as a preschool teacher at Childtime Children's Centers. I loved the kids, and I liked the job well enough, I guess, but I wasn't sure that I wanted to do it long-term. Once in Florida, I started working as a reservations agent at La Playa Beach Resort and was promoted to supervisor. After the hotel closed for renovations, I moved to the reservations department at the Edgewater Beach Hotel. I've recently been promoted to lead agent there, also. I guess I'm just a born leader (or maybe it's because all of the other agents have quit!)

I am also involved in community service and organizations (well, I was in college anyway):

  • I spent a lot of time working with the YSU campus chapter of Habitat for Humanity. In the four years I was a member, I worked in Kentucky, Youngstown, Ohio, and Buffalo, New York, and visited Mammoth Cave National Park, Toronto, Canada and Niagara Falls. I am also the former Secretary of the campus chapter.
  • I've spent countless hours tutoring and helping out in local elementary schools.
  • I am also a member of Golden Key National Honor Society and Kappa Delta Pi, the Educational Honor Society, and was named newsletter editor as well as home page editor for the local KDP chapter, Eta Xi. Most recently, I was elected into the National Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi.

In my free time, you can usually find me working on this home page, talking in a chat room (I'm Hot Dog Girl), or hanging out with my friends. I also like to read (Stephen King is my favorite!) and listen to music.

If you're still curious about me, you can find tons of pictures of me and my loved ones (mainly my friends and my cats) in my photo album.

Well, that's all I can think of for now. Go back to my main page to read about more of my favorite things.
