Isle au Haut Light
Isle Haute or High Island was
named by Samual de Champlain.
A piece of this island is now
part of Acadia National Park.
Built in 1907 the lighthouse
was established to guide
heavy shipping traffic between
Kimbal Island and the island.
Very much like the towers at
Ram Island and Marshall Point,
the brick building is 40 feet
tall and sits on a granite base.
Automated in 1934 and was
later converted to solar power,
and sold in 1986 the new owners
converted the keeper's house into
a bed and breakfast and named it
"The Keeper's House Inn".
