Materialism is alive and well,
While Santa rings his Christmas bell!
Shop 'till you drop! Get all you can!
Give your last dollar, for woman, child and man!
Compare your presents....check them with glee,
If it is expensive, charge it.....for a fee!
Is it proof, of someone's real worth?
A way to make up, for neglect here on earth?
Does one who gets nothing at all,
Seem to be "less", while others feel "tall"?
The stampede is on! We must no longer tarry!
Find just the right gift, for Sue, Jane and Mary!
I guess I'm "out of step" these days,
I do not need, presents or praise!
Just a friendly smile...and gentle words you say,
Not just at CHRISTMAS, but every day!
We need a GIFT, that all can send,
The best gift of all.....a TRUSTED FRIEND!
