Mission in Brief:
"One If By Land, Two If By Mind": Pax VII: Mission 12
The increasingly difficult cover-up of the Resistances refugee camp for Volkune telepaths runs into its largest problem as of yet: an unheard-of virus has infected 1/3 of the telepath refugees and rendered their telepathic genes inactive. With a possible telepathic plague on their hands, the Regents and Carriers of the Temple Archives are working against time to find out what the virus is, where it is coming from, and most of all, how to stop it.
Violent assaults on alien convoys near the Unlerion system continue as the xenophobic Democratic Society of the Volkune Republic initiate their new policy: if they do not hold Pax VII, no one will. Delegates of the League of Non-Aligned Planets are now streaming en masse from the station. Targeting the Centauri and Minbari for failing in their earlier pledge to protect the sector, the Narn ambassador, General GQel, has called a meeting of the Council of Great Powers to discuss the current power structure. While the Centauri and Minbari ambassadors attempt to save face by convincing the League representatives to stay on Pax VII, the Council begins a power struggle
Meanwhile, the mysterious Dr. Wilcox, tracked by the spy Korsalis, continues in his strange journeys.
Mission DeBrief:
Kos'salis, unable to find any hard evidence against Dr Wilcox, begins trailing other members of the Pax Station "Inner Circle". When he starts following Ambassador Tzipora, she discovers his actions and reports him to security.
In the meantime, Dr Wilcox is overwhelmed with the task of healing all the victims of a "telepathic plague" which has striken the Volkune and Terran resident telepaths. Amongst the casualties are Kevin Torquemada himself, although whether it was from the virus directly or as a result of a telepathic surge brought on by the activation of the telepathic dampening field is unknown.
Once the resident telepaths have been healed from the virus, they attend a religious healing ceremony, hosted by Dr Wilcox and his Wanderers followers, in order to overcome the telepathic blocking effects of the virus. This has brought some concern on behalf of the Volkune Religious, as it appears that a miracle healing session will lead to the imminent conversion of some of the Volkune refugees. The Volkune Religious heirarchy decide that allowing the Volkunes to attend the ceremony is worth the risk, considering the alternative.
