~JUST A SIMPLE SOLDIER~
~He was getting old and paunchy
and his hair was falling fast,
And he sat around the Legion,
telling stories of the past.~
~Of a war that he had fought in
and the deeds that he had done.
In his exploits with his buddies;
they were heroes, everyone.~
~And 'tho sometimes, to his neighbors,
his tales became a joke,
all his buddies listened,
for they knew whereof he spoke.~
~But we'll hear his tales no longer,
for ol' Bob has passed away,
and the world's a little poorer,
for a Soldier died today.~
~No, he won't be mourned by many,
just his children and his wife.
For he lived an ordinary,
very quiet sort of life.~
~He held a job and raised a family,
quietly going on his way;
and the world won't note his passing;
'tho a Soldier died today.~
~When politicians leave this earth,
their bodies lie in state,
while thousands note their passing
and proclaim that they were great.~
~Papers tell of their life stories,
from the time that they were young,
but the passing of a soldier,
goes unnoticed, and unsung.~
~Is the greatest contribution,
to the welfare of our land,
some jerk who breaks his promise
and cons his fellow man?~
~Or the ordinary fellow,
who in times of war and strife,
goes off to serve his Country
and offers up his life?~
~The politician's stipend
and the style in which he lives,
are sometimes disproportionate,
to the service he gives.~
~While the ordinary soldier,
who offered up his all,
is paid off with a medal
and perhaps a pension, small.~
~It's so easy to forget them,
for it is so long ago,
that our Bob's and Jim's and Johnny's,
went to battle, but we know.~
~It was not the politicians,
with their compromise and ploys,
who won for us the freedom,
that our Country now enjoys.~
~Should you find yourself in danger,
with your enemies at hand,
would you really want some cop-out,
with his ever waffling stand?~
~Or would you want a Soldier,
who has sworn to defend,
his home, his kin, and Country,
and would fight until the end?~
~He was just a common Soldier
and his ranks are growing thin,
but his presence should remind us,
we may need his like again.~
~For when countries are in conflict,
then we find the Soldier's part,
Is to clean up all the toubles,
that the politicians start.~
~If we cannot do him honor,
while he's here to hear the praise,
then at least let's give him homage,
at the ending of his days.~
~Perhaps just a simple headline,
in the paper that might say:
OUR COUNTRY IS IN MOURNING,
FOR A SOLDIER DIED TODAY.~
~Author Unknown~
~For those brave soldiers who fought
but have not returned, and whose fate is known only to God, we
must pledge together to them and to their families to remember
them each day and to do everything in our power to speak on their
behalf. To find them and return them to their own soil, living
and dead alike, during a time of relative peace seems a small
enough sacrifice in comparison. Can we in good conscience do less
for the patriots who sacrificed their existence for us and our
well-being? This is not simply the American thing to do, and the
humane thing to do, it is the right thing to
do.~
~POW'/MIAs PRAYER~
By Jean Ray and L. Vancil
Father,
~Your own Son was a prisoner.
Condemned, he died for us.
Victorious, He returned to bring us the gift of life
everlasting.~
~Comfort us now in our longing for the return of the Prisoners Of
War and those Missing In Action.~
~Help Us Father;
Inspire us to remove the obstacles.
Give courage to those who know the truth to speak out.
Grant wisdom to the negotiators, and
compassion to the jailors.~
~Inspire the media to speak out as loudly as they have in the
past. Protect those who seek in secret and help them to succeed.
Show us the tools to do Your will.~
~Guard and bless those in captivity, their families, and those
who work for their release. Let them come home soon.~
Thank you Father.
Amen.
~PRAYER FOR POW/MIAs~
~Almighty Father Who suffers in the affliction of your children,
we call upon you now from the depths of our anxiety and great
concern for our countrymen and loved ones who have fallen into
the hands of the Nations foes, in the face of the evils that
these brave men endure and before the grim burdens they are
forced to bear, give them courage and hope, and a never failing
confidence in You.~
~But most of all, 0 God, we ask that the day will soon come when
we can all celebrate their release and safe return to their homes
and kindred. Give to all of us who wait and hope in the face of
every disappointment the will to persevere in the cause of peace
and the wisdom to conquer hate with love and every doubt with a
renewed Faith in you.~
Amen.
~There are over 10,000 reports received by the U.S. Government
relating to Americans prisoner, missing or unaccounted for in
Southeast Asia. After reviewing "several million documents" and
conducting "over 250,000 interviews" the United States Government
has been unable to state categorically that Americans are still
alive.~
~Many authorities, however, including a former Director of
Defense Intelligence Agency, have reluctantly concluded that
there are many Americans still held against their will in
Southeast Asia.~
~Families who receive these reports are especially tortured. With
no means to prove or disprove them, the torment is indescribable.
When they turn to their government, they are usually met with the
"mindset to debunk" described by one high official in
Congressional hearings. When they approach Vietnam, they are
told the person they seek is unknown to them.~
~Yet the reports continue to flow in, month after month, year
after year. And year after year, families wait. And year after
year, American servicemen wait -- wondering if their country will
ever bring them home.~
~Cant you help us either bring Commander Trembley home or have
our government get full accounting for him and so many others?
You can help by contacting your President, Vice President,
Senators, Congressmen and Representatives and asking them "Where
Is Forrest Trembley, and what are you doing to get him
home?"~
~The Dove of Peace flies from site to site, through as many
countries as possible. It does not belong to ANY belief system.
Please help it make a line around the globe by taking it with you
to your site, by giving it to someone for their site, by passing
it on to another continent, or to the conflict areas of the
world.~

HOME~
ADDRESSES for Elected Officials and Government Agencies:
19 April 1999
Dear Mr.President, What is being done to determine the fate of
Lt. Commander J. Forrest George Trembly, USN, from Attact
Squadron
196 USS.Constellation who was last seen near the Chinese border,
21 Aug. 1967?
This is an American pilot who has remained on the MIA list for 31
years. Doesn't his devotion to his country award him the
priviledge and honor of being buried in his own homeland soil if
he is in fact deceased? Should, by any miracle, Trembly remain
alive, should he be left behind in a foreign country knowing his
country abandoned him? Do his family and loved ones not deserve
to know the fate of their son, brother, friend and loved one nor
be allowed to put a closure to this after so many years?
Please advise me of any action that is being taken by you or any
other elected or appointed official to determine his fate. In the
event there is nothing being done, please explain why not, and
tell me how you personally plan to correct this and prevent it
from ever happening again."
Thank you.
