Kokkola

Since train prices were very good for students, a group of us decided one weekend to go somewhere outside of Oulu on a Saturday. We got to the train station, looked at a map of Finland, picked a town we had never heard of, and purchased tickets for our destination. The town was Kokkola, straight south of Oulu along the coast.

I personally was more excited about the train ride than the destination. Traveling by train turned out to be my favorite way to get from place to place in Finland. I also tried bus, car, ferry, and airplane, none of which were very enjoyable. Pictured here are Anna, Rhet, Paul, and Brenda on the train. Rhet was excited about the train ride too. "We're doing it, guys! We're actually doing it!"

We decided to return to Oulu that night rather than spending the night in Kokkola. Here are Christiane, Anna, and Lindsey at the Kokkola train station.
