"Hello?" Jamie called above the noise over the line. "Is Joseph there?"

"Yeah.. I'll get him for ya." came the reply.

After a while, a male voice came on. "Yeah?"

"Joseph. This is Jamie Browning."

"What's wrong? I'm paying child support." came the surly reply.

Jamie nodded to the empty room. "I would just like to tell you that-"

"What? Say again?" Joseph yelled into her ear.

Jamie suddenly didn't want to say. "Kaylee is doing fine."

A grunt. "I should hope so. Kid's eating me out of house and home."

She sighed. "What blood type are you?" She prayed the results were wrong.

"What?"

She raised her voice. "What blood type are you?"

"What blood type am I?" he asked incredulously.

"Yes!"

"Why do you want to know?" Joseph asked.

"Just tell me!" Jamie's patience was wearing thin.

"I'm O, okay?"

She nodded grimly. "Thank you Joseph. Take care."

He grunted again. "Yeah, same. Bye." He hung up.
