Kaylee dug around in the attic. "Damn bugs." She brushed a cobweb off her face. "There better not be any Huntsmans or Red Backs up here or I'll kick all your asses." she said loudly.
She shifted and found a box. KRIS marked the side. "Cool." she grabbed it and drug it across the attic to the step ladder.
"Auntie Jamie? Can you come here for a tick?" Kaylee stuck her head down the hole and bumped her head on the ladder. "Damn."
Jamie came out of the kitchen and screeched. "Get out of the attic right now!"
Kaylee rubbed her head. "Why?"
"There're bugs up there! Spiders and rats!"
Kaylee grinned. "I'm not a spider or a rat."
Jamie narrowed her eyes. "No, you're just a rat bag. Now get down."
Kaylee backed out and stuck her feet onto the stepladder. "Hold the ladder for me, please?"
Jamie obliged and Kaylee came down holding a large dusty box.
"What's that?" Jamie asked with distaste.
Kaylee padded down the hallway, spider webs weaving through her hair. "Mum's stuff."
Jamie just sighed. "Okay. Grab a can of bug spray, though. God knows what's living in there."
"Okay." she called over her shoulder.
Jamie looked up and saw a large brown spider lower itself from the attic. "Eekk!"
Kaylee came racing back. "What?" She laughed as she saw her aunt pasted against the wall.
"Kill it!" she cried, pointing up.
Kaylee turned around and found a large, hairy brown spider not a foot from her nose. "Fuck! That's thing's friggin' huge!" she cried and backed away.
The spider dropped to the floor placidly and sat there.
Jamie went to stomp on it, but it shot off down the hall.
Kaylee gave chase. "God, I like spiders, but that monster is scary!" she eventually managed to scare it outside.
Jamie wiped her face as Kaylee came back into the hall. "Why didn't you kill it?"
Kaylee grinned. "Well, you try sqaushing a spider the size of a mouse with bare feet."
Jamie looked down and saw her niece's feet bare. "You were up in the attic with bare feet?" she asked incredulously.
Kaylee nodded, not really listening. "Besides, even if you squashed the spider with shoes on, it makes a loud crunching noise and a big twitching mess."
Jamie laughed slightly. "Well, close up the attic, take the ladder back outside and get those webs out of your hair."
Kaylee saluted. "Yes sir."
