An End is the Beginning Chapter 7

Jamie stepped into the airport. Kaylee was close behind. "Oh wow. Hillbillies!" she cried out, and people stared at her.

"Um, sorry." Kaylee bit her lip.

Someone approached. Kaylee looked him up and down. He was tall, had thick light blonde hair and dark brown eyes.

"Who the hell is this?" she whispered, eyeing the handsome stranger.

"A friend." Jamie whispered back. "Zac!" She hugged him tightly and he spun her around.

He gave Kaylee a hug as well and spun her around. "Good God." she said, getting her brain back into order. She didn't even know him.

"Jamie! How are you?" he asked happily.

"I guess they know each other, though." Kaylee mumbled, and held her spinning head. The airplane food hadn't helped any.

"Good." Jamie beamed.

Kaylee tuned out and began to play a staring game with the young boy behind the man.

"Oh, this is Kaylee." Jamie introduced, breaking into Kaylee's thoughts. "Kaylee, this is Zac Hanson."

She shrugged and stuck her hand out towards the man, not breaking eye contact with the boy. She felt her arm being shook, and she smiled at the man, but still she did not move.

The boy blinked. "Aw, you win."

Kaylee grinned triumphantly.

Zac laughed. "Jamie, Kaylee, this is my son Jared."

"How old are you?" Kaylee asked.

"11." he answered proudly.

She nodded.

Jamie raised an eyebrow. "Any others?"

Zac nodded. "Yeah. I've got 2 daughters. Bonnie is 8, and Katie is 4."

Jamie whistled. "You've been busy."

He laughed heartily. "Yeah. So have you?"

Jamie shook her head. "Nope. Gotta take care of this one." she patted Kaylee on the head.

Zac furrowed his brows. "She's Kris'?"

Jamie nodded and swallowed. She knew what was coming.

"How is she?"

She stared. This was not what she expected. "You don't know? I sent you a letter..."

He grew confused. "What? What letter?"

She watched Kaylee do a majic trick on Jared. She shook her head. "I'll tell you later."
