"Recording in 10. 9. 8. 7. 6. 5. 4..."
"Heya! And welcome back to our exclusive interview with Hanson and hot Aussie group, Zodiac." Dave droned.
He keeps saying 'Aussie' like it's a sauce, I grumbled mentally. It's Auzzie, with the s's like z's.
"So, what are you planning on doing when you grow older?" Drave blathered on.
Taylor: Well, hopefully, we'll stick with music.
Isaac: Yeah. It's our biggest desire. Sticking with music.
Dave: So you don't have plans?
Taylor: Not really. I'd like to be an architect if this music thing blows over.
Zac: I wanna be a cartoonist.
Dave: Really?
Zac: (screams in affirmation)
Dave: And what about you chicks? (turns to Zodiac)
Chicks?! Who the fuck does he think he is?
Jessica: I would like to stick with music. Produce or write it. But if that doesn't work, I may want to be a model. (laughs)
Dave: Cool. You'd be great as a model.
She was joking, dickhead.
Jessica: Thank you.
Dave: (looks to Jamie and Kristen)
Jamie: I'd want to be a film maker. That'd be cool.
Dave: (nods) Kris?
Kristen: I wanna be a Spice Girl.
I said this, glaring at him. He pulled his eyes away from my chest, and I grinned at his blush. I folded my legs, and leaned in a bit.
Dave: Really?
Kristen: Oh, yeah. They're sooooo sexy.
I chuckled at his reaction. He held a Smash Hits mag on his lap like it was a life preserver, looking ready to burst.
Kristen: You okay?
Dave: (nods)
Kristen: Are you sure?
I rubbed it in.
Dave: I'm fine. So I take it you guys are going to do a song for us?
All: (nods)
Dave: Then let's hear it!
We stood, and made our way to the small stage off to the left with instruments set up. There were two guitars, one drumset, and one pair of keyboards set up with some bongos stationed beside them.
Jamie beamed as she saw her favorite acoustic waiting for her. Isaac pulled his out of the stand, and pulled the strap over his head.
I followed Taylor to the keyboards, and stood behind him as he placed his fingers lightly on the keys. I turned to see Zac perched on the drum seat, with Jessica standing behind him.
"What are you going to play?" Dave asked from the center stage.
"You'll see." I called.
"One, two, three!" Zac counted, tapping his sticks together.
"You have so many relationships in this life..." Taylor sang, and I grinned. The boys sang, and I watched as the cameras zoomed in and out of the three.
"Mmmbop, ba du bop..."
I watched Taylor intently, mentally timing until...
There!
I nearly laughed as he began stomping his feet hard. I turned to Jess behind the drum kit, and sign languaged to her that it looked like he was ferverently stomping roaches. She laughed, and nearly fell on top of Zac. Zac lost his beat, and the song started to lag.
Jessica, not missing a beat, grabbed his hands, and began beating the drum for him until he gained the rythm.
Isaac had missed a chord, and was trying to keep up, but was an octave higher. Jamie sighed and covered the blooper up with her own playing, playing by memory.
Taylor had missed the beat as well, and was stumbling over the keyboards. I shoved in next to him, and played the top keyboard. He glanced over at me angrily, but kept playing. As the bongo bit came up, he left the keyboards in disgust, and began beating on the tiny drums with speed.
I stuck my tongue at him, causing him to stumble again, and I jumped onto the lower keyboards, playing a bit that's usually left out.
"Ca-" Taylor began, singing the wrong part but I kicked his calf.
"MmmBOP." I sang into the microphone. That was all I could manage before I nearly fell to the floor, wanting to laugh at the yelp Tay strangled out.
"MmmB-OW!" he cried as I kicked him, and turned to me halfways glaring at me.
For that, I got a return kick, and my palm fell flat on the keys, making a harsh jangling sound.
The beat began to slow, and I turned to see Jess pull Zac off the drums, and pick up smoothly where he had left off. The others sensed it, and Isaac and Taylor played slower, stopping completely. The music didn't stop, though.
That's where we came in. The music slowed even more, and I began to softly play the beginning chords of "Don't Do This".
| "Don't give it up.
Don't leave me here. Don't pass it by, Don't leave my life." |
The song faded, my voice quivering. My eyes prickled, but I didn't let myself cry. I didn't know why I felt this way, but this song made me want to cry.
"Woo hoo!" Dave yelled, clapping. "That was Hanson followed by Zodiac! We'll be back for more!"
