If I hadn't looked outside, I would have never seen him. I pushed open the heavy doors, and jogged out to him. He heard my footsteps, and stiffened.
I grabbed his arm, and pulled him around to face me. The light from the hotel lobby shone on his face, and I nearly winced at all the pain showing in his eyes.
"Give me a break!" I finally shouted. He tried to pull from my grip, but I held on. "Look, even if I wanted to..." I blurted, and then stopped myself.
Taylor stared at her. What? he thought. Did she say what I thought she said? he looked down at her, into her jade green eyes.
"Don't look at me like that." I mumbled, still gripping his arm. "Don't you realize how many people would get angry at me if we did this?" (*AN: And me!*)
"Did what?" he asked.
"Buggery! You can be as dumb as an ox sometimes, Taylor Hanson! I mean this!" I pulled his head down and shoved my face against his. My lips bumped against his teeth, and they stung. We kissed like that for a while, and then I finally released him. "There." I said breathlessly, letting go of his arm. I blushed nice and hard, wanting to run like an embarrassed school girl.
"Yeah..." he replied, his face the color of his damn red jellybeans.
"This doesn't mean I like you." I said quietly.
He chuckled, turning his burning face from the light. "Right."
"Now we talk." I said, and I pulled him down onto the pavement, ignoring the other people staring. "Okay. This is embarrassing." I started.
"Yeah."
"I've never had a boyfriend. Like I said before, I scare them all away. Unfortunately, I haven't done it to you. So we're left here." I blabbered on aimlessly, mindlessly. All I could think was am I doing the right thing?
"Do you like me?" he asked, watching people walk past us and up the steps to the hotel.
"My hormones do." I joked.
"No, really?"
I sighed, and put my elbows on my knees, my chin in my hands. "Put it this way. I don't like a boy because he's cute an popular. If not, I'm just as popular as you, and I'm waaaaaaaaay cuter!"
He shoved me, and I shoved back.
"I like a guy because he's sweet, ready to listen, and lets me butt into the middle of his debut hit live on air."
He laughed softly.
"He's got a sense of humor... Understands how I feel..." I continued. "Remember when you... last year, you caught me down at the riverside? I was about to..."
"I do." he remembered, facing me.
"I thought you would have called me cuckoo, and send me off to Greylands." (*Greylands is a prominent psychiatric hospital near my house. Yeah! Good people! *lol*)
He shook his head. "I wouldn't have."
