"Guess what?" Jamie asked, coming up the aisle.
"What?"
"More interviews. They want to do us all separate; like some police cross examination."
I groaned and slid into my seat. Taylor did the same.
"Joy, huh?" Jamie said sarcastically. "Well, get going, beans."
I pulled myself from my chair, watching Jamie walk away. "Well, I'm certainly looking to this."
"Yeah. Same." Tay agreed, standing up and stretching.
"What are we going to do about this?" I asked, still too embarrassed to call us a couple.
"Um. Dunno." he shrugged.
"Well, they are going to interview us separate. I'll just put it off." I decided.
"But I wanna tell them." he whined.
"Fine. But don't mention my name, please?" I begged.
"Okay. They'll ask me, and I'll tell them. What about you?"
"If they ask I'll say I do." I sighed. "It's going to be really suspicious when Kris and Tay get good friends between two interviews. Especially when they said they didn't have boy- girl-friends only 24 hours ago."
Taylor nodded. "Oh well."
"Yep." I looked around. The others had gone. "Let's go." I said, grabbing his hand and pulling him behind me.
The trip to the station was boring. We walked up the steps to a large building and in. I had to tug my hand from Taylor's as we went in. As soon as we were sighted, people pounced on us and pulled us away from each other. I was even separated from Jess and Jamie.
I sat in some drab, dull room, on a seedy couch examining the crap painting on the wall. About an hour later, I was finally called. I was nearly drooling from boredom when someone poked their head in and declared that I 'was ready'.
I was ready yonks ago, poof. I complained mentally, and got up, stiff. I swung my arms around and followed the person who had told me to come to the recording booth.
I sat down, and grinned toothily at the DJ.
"Hi..." he paused and glanced at a sheet of paper. "Kristen. How are you?"
"Great!" I chirped, thouroughly sick of all this formal shit.
"Well, we're going to interview you about stuff, okay?"
Yeah, right. You ask me if that's all right, but if I tell you it's not, you'll laugh.
"Yep!" I said as enthusiastically as possible.
"Cool." he replied, turning on the microphones and a red light came on.
DJ: Hi! And we're here at KRIS with Kristen Harmont of Zodiac, the hot new Aussie band touring with Hanson! I nearly gagged.
DJ: Sounds like this station is named after you, huh Kris?
Right.
Kristen: Yeah. That's cool.
DJ: So what's it like touring with Hanson?
Kristen: It's cool. We've met before, and have been good friends for about a year. It's exciting to be outside of Australia, seeing the world. Dammit! I was literally gushing.
DJ: You like the US?
Kristen: Yeah!
DJ: So, got a boyfriend? Fucken hell! They're all this damn nosy. It's like in the prerequisite for DJs.
Kristen: Yes.
DJ: What's his name?
Kristen: I'd rather not tell.
DJ: That's fine.
Kristen: Ta.
DJ: What?
Kristen: Thanks.
DJ: Oooookay. Would you like to sing for us?
Kristen: Sure.
"If I should stay,
I would only be in the way
so I know, that when I go
I will think of you every step of the way..."
DJ: Whoa! That was Kristen Harmont of Aussie band Zodiac touring with Hanson! We'll be right back.
He switched off the red light, and I sat back. "So how's you and Taylor going?" he asked slyly.
I started. "What?" I managed to ask.
"You and Taylor Hanson."
"What about us?" I asked, my face getting warm.
"I heard you guys were hooked up with each other."
I couldn't think what to say. "Excuse me, I've got to go." I bit out, and left. What nerve!
I went down the large hall until I came into a drab room with Ike, Tay, Zac, and Jess in it. Jamie was the next to be questioned.
"Taylor!" I shrieked.
"What?" he started, guiltily putting down the Victoria Secrets magazine. "I didn't do anything! Ike found it!" he began.
"Not that! He knows!"
Taylor looked confused. "What? Knows what?"
"That damn DJ knows about us!"
His eyes widened. "How?"
"I sure as hell didn't tell!" I cursed, and flopped down next to Jess.
"Same." Taylor crossed his heart, and we both looked at the other 3 suspiciously.
Isaac threw his hands up as if to shield himself. "Hey! I didn't tell!" he protested.
Jessica shook her head. "I wouldn't do that, you know."
Our eyes swivelled to Zac. "Hey! They woulda found out anyways..." he began.
I nearly got up and killed him. "Zachary Hanson, not only have you done this the wrong way, but you have made me look a fool!" I nearly burst.
"Why?" he asked.
"Because I didn't say it was Taylor, stupid!" I was nearly boiling.
Jessica unfolded her legs and leaned over. "Get a grip. The kid's right. They would have found out anyways."
I pouted, a black cloud hanging over me. "I'm going to the toilets." I declared, standing up, and slamming the door.
I marched down the hall and into the toilets. When I was in my stall, other doors opened and the occupants chattered.
"You know Hanson's here, right?" one said.
I froze.
"Yeah. God, I hate the little dickheads." said another. The first laughed.
"I feel the same. How stupid can you get with the words 'MmmBop' for Chrissake?" They cackled.
"Yeah! 'MmmBOP'!" one screeched in a falsetto.
"Rob absolutely hates them. When he was done interviewing that middle gaywad, he nearly puked. And then he drooled over that first girl. It makes me sick."
"Really?"
"Yeah..."
I flushed and came out of the cubicle. I washed my hands, the women silent. As I was drying my hands with paper towels, I began humming. I then began singing.
" 'You have so many relationships in this life
Only one or two will last.
You go through all the pain and strife
and then you turn your back
and they're gone so fast!"
Their mouths dropped open, eyes big.
"'Oh yeah!
And they're gone so fast!
Oh, so hold on to the ones who really care
coz in the end they'll be the only ones there
when you get old and start losing your hair
can you tell me who if you can?
Can you tell me who if you can?
Oooooh!"
They were staring as I danced around them, 'oooh'ing in their faces, mimicking Taylor's prepubescent whine perfectly.
"'Okay and...
Mmmbop ba du a dop ba du bop..."
I grinned at their faces as they rushed out of the toilets. I ran after them and screamed: "Man! Where's the love?!" and they headed down the hall even faster.
I went back to the sitting room, grinning from ear to ear.
"What was that?" Isaac asked, eyebrows raised.
"I was defending my boyf and co." I declared, grinning at Taylor.
