CHAPTER FIVE

About 4 weeks later, I paid the taxi driver, and pushed open the gate to my house.

"Oop. Got mail." I said to myself, emptying the mailbox. "Bill, bill, notice, flier, money!" I said, looking at the Virgin label on the envelope. "Bill, crap, postcard..." I raised an eyebrow, and saw that it was addressed to J. Brown. When I realized who sent it, I laughed.

"Clever boy, Zac." I complimented him on being discreet about the name of the addressee. "Couldn't have the fact that a certain Jamie Browning lived at 15 Terra Court, now could we?" I said aloud, walking up the gravel drive and into the house.

"Guess who's got mail?" I announced.

"Me!" Jess cried.

"No!" I said just as exuberantly. Jess stuck her tongue at ME, and kept with brushing her hair and watching Animaniacs.

Jamie looked up from her drawing pad. "What?" she asked, bored.

"Someone's got maaaaaaaaaail!" I sang, doing a little dance. Bills and ads flew everywhere.

"You?" Jamie asked, just as bored.

"No!" I sang.

"Dad?"

"No!"

"Mum?"

"No!"

"The bloody fish?!" she yelled. I stopped dancing but jigged in front of Jamie, holding the postcard out teasingly.

"...Me?" asked Jamie.

P nodded, chucking the card at Jamie, and laughed at the change of attitude in Jam. She rarely got anything other than cheques for payment from the latest profit the album had made.

"It's from Zac!" she squealed.

"Joy." said Jess, although she was eager to hear about the Hansons. I smacked her upside the head. Jess playfully smacked back.

"It says that he's bored with touring..." Jamie read aloud.

"And Ike?" I asked, teasing Jessica.

"Ike's fine. Sang a bit off all during one of their concerts and has been crabby lately." Jamie reported, and Jessica beamed.

"Taylor... hrmm..." Jamie's eyes widened, and she glanced at Kris.

"Yeah?" I raised an eyebrow.

"He's apparently going out with a chick named Yvonne Nicklaus."

"Good for him!" I cried happily, though inside I felt a pang of something... Jealously? Well, I wouldn't have green eyes for nothing. I thought.
