I felt free. My arm cast was off.
"Oh God, that feels good! Better than se-... uh... Better than getting Tay to... nevermind." I hooted, rubbing my hand up and down my arm.
The others laughed.
It turned out that I was a fast healer. Still, to me, 3 months was too damn long. Well, not quite 3 months...
"The break wasn't too big. It was more like a fracture." the nurse told me and walked out.
I grinned. I had my arm back. I had to wear a brace, however. It went from elbow to wrist. I could at least move my arm, thank God.
The nurse came back, holding two very familiar objects. "Congrats. You've graduated to crutches."
I groaned, grasping my chair.
"Crutches."
"No."
"Yes." she said and pulled me out of the chair. I nearly fell over, not used to standing. She held me up and stuffed the crutches under my arms. I shuffled around, getting my balance back.
"Good."
"Can I leave, now?" I asked excitedly.
She nodded obligingly.
"Yeah! I'm outta this dump!" I cried and promptly fell onto the bed.
"Hey, this 'dump' took good care of you, young lady." the nurse chided me as she pulled me up.
Ike, Tay and Zac left the room.
I laughed suddenly. "Who's my doctor?" In all the time I was here, I could barely remember my doctor.
"Doctor Regan."
"How come I don't remember him?"
The nurse grinned. "Perhaps because she came only when you were asleep. You get feral when you're awake."
"Hey!"
She laughed.
"Can you please thank her? And everyone else?"
She stopped laughing and nodded. "Sure thing. Now get out of here."
I hobbled out of my room for the last time. "I didn't leave a butt print in my chair, did I?" I called back.
She grinned and shooed me out.
I stood outside. Drake gave me a hug.
"The Hansons will let you stay with them, but be good. Don't get up their noses." he warned me.
"I will." I promised.
He didn't catch it. "Jamie is going to be released in 2 days."
I nodded sadly. She still wouldn't talk to me. She no longer had haemorrhages and her ribs were getting better. She no longer had her neck brace on and didn't need anything besides the drip on. She could sit up and stand carefully, but she wouldn't talk to me.
I went down the elevator and outside to the van waiting.
My heart rate picked up, but I steeled myself and let Taylor drag me to it.
I buckled in, my leg sticking out.
Zac jumped in. "Can I sit on your leg?" he joked.
"Hell no." I mock snarled.
"Touche!"
Taylor sat beside me.
