Backstreet Boys After the Millennium

(16, February 2000)

What's Next for Them as the Year 2000 Becomes Official!

The Backstreet Boys came back with a vengeance in the 1999 and we already know they will be even stronger in the upcoming year! Last year they started off by launching the Millennium album in Many and kicked off a successful international tour in June. Fans welcomed them back to the states in September when they head out onto a sold-out 11 week Into The Millennium Tour, originally set to end on December 6th in Tampa, FL. But seeing how their tour name is Into The Millennium the guys must've though it might be kinda cool to tour during the real Millennium. AFter the clock struck twelve, the guys were ready to head back out on the road for another six weeks of shows giving fans one more chance to see them rock in concert before heading back into the studio!

The Boys receieved a little Halloween fright last year that pertained to the monsters we call ticket scalpers. After performing on October 31st at the Pepsi Center in Denver, CO, the guys learned that more than 1000 tickets were released to scalpers who then turned around and sold them to ticket-seeking fans for way more than their face-value.
Horrified at the possibility of a fan spending her life savings, Brian, Kevin, Howie, Nick, and A.J. asked their management company to do some investigating and sure enough, 1200 tickets ended up in the hands of scalpers and not those of true Backstreet Boys fans. After hearing the facts, the boys stated some facts of their own. "We've done everything we can to prevent scalping from limiting the number of tickets purchased to distributing wristbands," said the Backstreet Boys. "To think scalping of this type occured at our Denver show infuriated us. With us, the fans always come first and anything that comprimises our connection with them will always be addressed and properly investigated." To sum it up--the boys don't like to see their fans get ripped off!
In order to make things right again, the guys asked that $75,000 be donated by The House of Blues (the promoter for that particular show) to the Columbine College Fund. This organization was established to help all of the students of the Columbine High School tradegy by providing financial assistance for post-secondary education. Just goes to show that the fans really are "Larger Than Life" to the Boys!

There certainly isn't any r & r (that's rest and relaxation) in sight for these Backstreet Babes. After spending almost a year on the road they are to start working on the follow-up to what has become one of the best selling albums of all time. Late last year the boys had decided to part ways with their record company, Jive, so the certainty of a new record right away was, well, uncertain. But now all is forgiven and you can expect to see not one, not two, not even three, but five more albums from these Orlando heartthrobs. The follow-up to Millennium should appear sometime in early fall of 2000. 16 will be sure to keep you posted on all the lastest album info!

Now we all know that each of the Backstreet Boys are gorgeous sweet-hearts that make your pulse race every time they sing their sweet melodies, but only one Backstreet Boys recently was honored with the title "Sexiest Pop Star Alive" by People Magazine. Kevin Richardson, the tall, dark, dreamy, and oldest Backstreet Boy graced the pages of the magazine's yearly "Sexiest Men Alive" issue with the sexiest man himself--actor, Richard Gere. Kevin, of course, is "the most humble and modest guy" according to bandmate Howie Dorough, so he was a little shy about doing the issue but took it all in stride. "Sexiness isn't something that's put on," Kevin told People. "It just naturally comes out of you." We think Kevin is naturally just plain gorgeous!

Have you ever wanted to know what it would be like to be the one on a Backstreet Boys' arm? Maybe getting beautiful red roses just because or having special love poems written for your eyes only. Well, it seems two former gal pals of A.J. McLean and Brian Littrell want to share intimate details abou being romanced by these two larger than life boys.
The two girls share poems and letters that were personally written for them while they dated A.J. and Brian. A.J.'s former girlfriend, Marissa Jackson, even prints never before seen photos of her days with the guy she says has a real soft side. "He could be tough, but he could also be gentle," says Marissa in her book, Loving A.J.--My Six Year Relationship with a Backstreet Boy. She also admits that he could act totally goofy one minute and be sweet and sincere the next. She describes him as "full of life" and the type of guy who prefers an evening alone rather than going out to a club.
Brian's high school sweetheart, Samantha Stonebraker, shares details of her prom date with Brian and how she was just a normal girl who happened to be the first love of one of the Backstreet Boys. She also shares candid shots of the boys before they became the Millennium fivesom. Check out Loving A.J.--My Six Year Relationship with a Backstreet Boy by Marissa Jackson and What You Wanna Know: Backstreet Secrets Only a Girlfriend Can Tell by Samantha Stonebraker just for fun!
