Very good show at Shepherds Bush empire in London - NM does her homework on places she visits: as soon as she arrived on stage she was talking about the local football (soccer) team Queens Park Rangers (thyre not very good by the way - but good to see her taking an interest!)
The Welsh singer Katell appeared with Natalie for a couple of encores - Carnival and one of her own songs which La Merchant thinks is 'one of the best songs ever written in the English language' - or words to that effect.
She also told us how she'd spent the previous day in Wolverhampton in the local library - then proceded to give us a bit of wartime spirit and sang a Vera Lynn song!
Lots of audience participation as ever - one loud male insisted on telling NM how much he loved her.
Among the covers were In the Ghetto and the Last goodbye by Jeff Buckley (no Wonderwall though which was intresting given the comment from the toronto reviewer!)
She was VERY relaxed - very infortmal - lots of chatting - sang part of life is sweet from on top of the piano - and was barefoot for most of the show.
Sang Whats the matter here , These are Days and How youve grown of 10K maniacs songs but not enough for my liking
She reckoned she couldnt remember how to play most of the requests that were yelled out - or didnt know the words! Shame!
