Green eyes skimmed the words written upon the pale blue stationary before them. Content that what she read was indeed what she intended to express, the author signed the bottom of the letter with a flourish:

J.
She then folded the paper into three equal sections making careful creases and safely tucked it into a similar-colored, already-addressed envelope. She sealed it with a kiss – literally. Her lips lingering as she willed the emotions she felt to be understood by the recipient. She could only hope.
Only days prior, she had sent the first of her identical letters. One would undoubtedly reach its destination.
She slipped on a jacket and stepped through the front
door into the crisp autumn air. The fallen leaves
carpeting the sidewalk crunched beneath her loafers as
she walked. Reaching the mailbox, she pulled open the
door and finally released the envelope from her grasp.
"Please, God, handle with care," she whispered.
