The next morning Howie got up early to run a last minute errand before he left. He went to the corner store and bought a bag of gummy bears and a bag of licorice. He stopped at the florist and bought a bouqet of wild flowers and he stopped at the music store and bought Jon Secada's CD. He drove to Maddie's apartment and placed the gifts outside her door, rang the doorbell and walked away.

Maddie rolled over in bed...who would be at her door this early...She grabbed her robe and unlocked her door. When she looked down she saw a package and a bouquet of flowers. She smiled and walked over to her couch and sat down. She drank in the sweet aroma of the flowers . She unwrapped the package and saw gummy worms, licorice and a CD.
The note attached read :
Maddie,
I am sorry I have to leave before we could get to know each other better. It is not everyday I am blessed to meet someone who treats me like a normal guy. You made me laugh and I feel like I can tell you anything.
I bought you gummy bears so that you could eat them and feel the sweet bliss in your stomach that I do when I eat gummies.
Jon Secada sings the most sensual songs, and I thought that when you are relaxing in the tub that you could play it and know that I am thinking of you.
When I want to unwind I will play Elton John and think of you.
I wish we had more time but this is the one part of my job I cannot change.
I will call you when we arrive in Buffalo.
I hope that throughout the tour our friendship will prosper and when I get back we can start a new kind of friendship.
Always remember to hold your head up and when things are getting you down remember we will always have gummy bears and Jon Secada.
