Chapter 1....The Offer

"God dammit why can't I write this headline" Abbie hit delete and stared at the blank screen. She was on a tight deadline and was dangerously close to not having her commentary ready to go to the web master. She stretched her long arms above her head and closed her eyes, willing the stretch to infuse her mind with ideas.

"Abbie...Abbie" Her eyes flew open and she saw the amused face of her co worker and close friend Jilly.

"Sorry to wake you sleeping beauty but Spencer wants to see you....ASAP" Jilly smiled reassuringly at her friend "He is not in a bad mood so don't worry"

"Thanks J" Abbie straightned her blouse and peg leg pants, grabbed her file that contained the headline-less story and walked down the hall to her managing editor's office. "Hi Spence, Jilly told me you want to see me?"

"Come on in and close the door." Spencer watched the young woman settle into the chair across from him and turned his attention to the men that sat beside her. "Gentlemen this is Abigail Foster, Abigail this is Mark Kraft and Tim Tilson from The Firm Management."

Abbie smiled at the young men "nice to meet you" Abbie turned to her boss with an unsure look "Spencer why did you want to see me?"

"Abbie these men represent the Backstreet Boys, apparently one of the artists is a big fan of your column and he has requested that you be the official tour biographer"

"I beg your pardon" Abbie asked, not comprehending what her editor was telling her.

"Let me try. Kevin is a big fan of your Trends and Taboos column. We are currently looking for someone to be based in Orlando. You will be in daily contact with the boys, they will fill you in on what they have doing and you in turn will document it for an Into the Millennium Tour Book that will be sold after the conclusion of the tour. You will work closely with Andre, the tour photographer, he will take the pictures and you will write the story." Tim smiled at the young woman.

"I have a job..I mean I like my job"

"We understand that, we have been talking to Spencer and he thinks that while you are working with the boys that your readers would like to get a first hand look at what it takes to put on a huge production like this tour. A weekly column devoted to the boys and their daily lives. There will also be times where you will spend time with the boys on tour"

"Could I have a couple of days to think this over?"

"The tour starts in one week and the boys would like the biographer in Orlando in two days so that the pre tour rehearsals can be documented."

"I will call you tomorrow with my answer" Abbie stood up and shook the men's hands and walked out of the office, holding onto the walls for support. She closed the door and leaned against the wall, trying to get her head from spinning.

"Hun are you okay?" Tracey, the publicist patted her shoulder.

"I am fine, a little over whelmed but alright" Abbie walked back to her desk and only when she looked at the picture of the boys on the front cover of Rolling Stone did she allow herself to let the information sink in "The Backstreet Boys want me to work for them!!!"

"She was very surprised and is mulling over our offer. She will let us know tomorrow." Mark and Tim were briefing the boys on their meeting with Abbie.

"What is there to mull over...she gets to tour with five of the most hot men in the music business..." Nick grinned.

"Come on Nick..I mean she is going to have to pick up and move on two days notice. She will have to move to a strange city and live there, far away from her friends and family" Howie tried to reason with Nick.

Kevin groaned. He had known that Abbie Foster was the perfect choice from the minute he had come across her internet commentary on the CNN web page.

She wrote with confidence and had a biting sense of humor. He had found himself doing research on her and he had been shocked when he had found out that she was only 24 and that she was a Business Major in College and not a Journalism Major. When the Firm had mentioned the biography he had immediatly submitted her name. "I have to get her on tour with us" Kevin made a note to call Miss Foster himself to convince her.

"Girl I almost died when they told me that the Backstreet Boys had specifically asked for me. I could not even believe it. I sat there like a star struck teeny bopper." Abbie was rehashing that afternoon's events with her roommate Val and Jilly.

"Girl I hope you are not wasting time considering this..Get your sorry ass into your bedroom and start packing."

"Come on guys, this is a huge decision. I mean I will be on tour with the biggest band for 6 months atleast"

"You are so not a typical woman..Jesus girl do you know how many women would jump at this chance. Are you sure you are not lesbian?" Val joked.

Abbie and her friends were laughing when the phone rang. Abbie tried to balance the wine glass in her hand while she stretched to reach the cordless phone. "Holly's House of Whores, we suck for a buck" she laughed into the phone.

There was silence at the other end of the phone "Hello...anyone there, we also give massages" Abbie joked.

"Um...hello....is Abigail Foster in please?" The smooth but deep voice sent shivers down Abbie's back.

"This is she..Who is speaking please?"

"Kevin, Kevin Richardson. Umm I believe you spoke to my management firm today"

"Oh..ummm could you hold on a minute" Abbie pressed the hold button and looked at her friends. "OH MY SWEET JESUS....KEVIN as in Kevin from the Backstreet Boys is calling me. What the hell do I do?"

"Take him off of hold and use the tongue that god gave you" Val said laughing. She was not used to seeing Abbie so flustered. Abbie was always the calm and collected one and now she stood before her, blushing and stammering.

"How can I use my tongue..Oh you want me to talk" Abbie winked and put the receiver up to her ear. "Hello..Mr Richardson.. I am sorry to put you on hold."

"So what did he want?" Val and Jilly asked impatiently.

"He wanted to personally invite me to tour with them. Apparently he is fascinated with my commentary and thinks that I would be a valuable asset to the tour"

"Come on girls we need to get packing, Abbie is going on tour with the Backstreet Boys"
