Chapter 5

"I cannot believe that I just drove in a purple corvette" Abbie and Howie were waiting to be seated as they talked.

"I always said I would own one and when I got one of my first cheques I went and got it, she's my baby" Howie smiled as the hostess led them to their seats. He held out the chair for Abbie and watched her lean body gracefully sit down and he pushed her close to the table.

They placed their order and Abbie looked around the resteraunt and squealed when she saw Sharon Stone sitting at the table across from them. "Howie...oh my god Howie that's Sharon Stone" Abbie whispered excitedly.

Howie subtly looked over and grinned "Yes it is, do you want to say hi to her" Howie loved seeing how people reacted to fame. Abbie was so fresh and put on no airs. She was obviously very star struck and she was not afraid to show it.

"No I couldn't intrude, I mean this is her own time and I hate taking that away from her. She is just trying to have a quiet and private breakfast with her husband and I would never want to be the cause of her missing out on that quality time. I will just stay speechless from afar" Abbie's face glowed and her mouth curled up in a youth like grin. "While we are on that topic does it ever bother you that you cannot have a quiet meal without someone intruding?"

"It does bother me sometimes, especially when I am trying to have a serious conversation or spending time with my family but I agreed to give that up when I chose this life. The fans are the only reasons why I can enjoy driving around in the car that I would never have been able to afford had I not become a Backstreet Boy, I hope this does not come off as sounding conceited but if all it takes to make a person's day is to pose for a picture or smile at them then I will do it. I think that is one of my favourite parts of being a Backstreet Boy, the ability to make someone smile or to have someone come up to me and tell me that they formed a friendship with someone who they met because of our music. We are changing people's lives just by singing and to me that is incredible." Howie stopped and looked at Abbie who was staring intently at him and becoming more intrigued with every kind word he spoke. "I am sorry, I didn't mean to take over the conversation." Howie smiled apoligetically "So Abbie do you have any brothers or sisters?"

Abbie's face glowed as she talked about her siblings and her voice was filled with pride. "I have an older sister named Tess and she has the most beautiful baby daughter, my goddaughter named Abigail Emma, we call her Absy because otherwise it would be too hard to keep us straight. Absy is 4 and she is my whole world. I almost didn't take this job because I didn't want to be away from Absy for two seconds let alone a year. My brother Shawn is 20 and he is a Computer programmer, and my younger sister is Raelynne and she is 14 and is bragging to everyone in her dance class, home room and town that her older sister is working for the Backstreet Boys. She will be flying down with Absy when you guys perform here next month."

"Abbie I am intrigued with how your voice changed when you started to talk about your family. I didn't think it was possible for someone to love their family more than me but I think you do." Howie stopped talking as their breakfast arrived. He watched the beautiful brunette eating her omellette and he wondered if she knew what a dizzying effect she had on him.

"Come on Kev you have been stumbling on that step for the past 3 weeks! It is not that hard, everyone take a 5 minute break and then get back here. Kev you stay here, we are going to figure this out" Fatima had kept the boys practicing for 2 hours non stop and they were all getting irritable. Howie glanced down at Abbie who had tied her hair up haphazardly on the top of her head with a pencil and smiled. She had her nose inches from the screen of her laptop and was typing furiously. He didn't want to interrupt her so he turned to AJ "Hey Bone I need some juice let's run to the cafeteria."

Nick was about to follow the guys out of the room when he decided to see if Abbie wanted something to drink. He walked over to her and flopped down in the seat beside her. "I would suggest that you get up and move while you can because if I know Fatima this is going to go for a couple more hours"

Abbie looked at the red faced, sweaty boy in front of her "Okay let's go, my brain is pretty wrecked and I could use some juice and brain food"

Abbie picked her laptop up off her lap and placed in the seat beside her. She watched as Nick and Brian fooled around while Fatima tried to correct a move that Howie was doing wrong. She had spent most of the morning taking notes on the various boys' work ethics. Nick was the restless one who got bored very easily. Brian was the one who made the jokes and loosened the guys up. Howie and Kevin were the perfectionists who threw themselves into the steps and AJ was the natural dancer, whose steps came easy to him. She bent down and stretched, hoping that the deep stretch would release the knot in her lower back. She was leaning her hands up against the wall and stretching out her hamstrings when she heard "Put your hands up on the wall and spread em baby" she jumped and burst out laughing when she saw AJ standing behind her and grinning.

"I am sorry to interupt your stretching session but Fatima told me to stop stretching with your butt facing the mirrors because you were causing us all to lose our concentration."

Abbie hit his arm "smart ass...move over Eddie Murphy..AJ is on the prowl"

"Actually rehearsals are done and we are all going to grab some lunch before we head home and start the wonderful task of packing all of our possesions into two duffel bags."

"We are heading over to the Hard Rock, are you coming with us Abbie?" Brian asked as he wiped his sweaty face with a towel.

"If you are sure that I am not intruding."

"Abbie, we are leaving for the tour tomorrow and believe me there will not be too many times that we will get to dine in the presence of a beautiful woman like yourself" AJ said as he slung his arm around her shoulder. "Besides this is your initiation, we all eat up a storm and you get the bill" The guys and Abbie all broke out into laughter and walked out of the rehearsal hall.
