I stared at the headlines of the newspapers spread across my table. "Another Backstreet Boy Bites the Dust" "They aren't boys anymore" "She is my Fire, My One Desire says MacLean after the announcement of his engagment."
"Typical..." I threw the papers down and walked back to bed where Keavy's hair was fanned out on the pillow and her hands were resting on my pillow, as if reaching for me in her sleep. I sat at the edge of the bed and watched her sleep as I drank my herbal tea. She always smiled when she slept, it was amazing really how she always seemed to be smiling, even in her sleep. She must have felt me watching her for she stirred and her eyelids fluttered and opened slowly, giving me view of her emerald sparkling jewels. "Morning beautiful" I leaned down and kissed her softly, smiling as she purred. "Thats a sound I like to hear first thing in the morning, that means I did my job and woke you up with a smile.
"Climb in here and I will make you smile Yank" Keavy threw up the covers, giving me access and one hell of a view to the short teddy that she was wearing.
I grinned evily and licked my lips, crawling into bed and letting my arms pull her to me. "You know that you are making it awefully hard for me to remain a gentleman and a pure fiancee before the wedding when you wear things like that to bed and while we are on the subject of being pure, how mean was that little dance you did for me while I was on stage last night" I whined as I stroked her hair.
"What dance, oh really Yank it was innocent, I was simply dancing to my two favourite male singers, Nicky and Elton" she teased.
"Well that dance alone could have caused Elton to turn straight and could have made poor Nicky combust from chronic horniness and overflow of love juice"
Keavy broke into laughter and buried her face in my chest.

"You've fiddled with me Yank, why are we here?" Keavy and I stood in front of Tiffany's. She didn't have a Tiffanys in Ireland and she was confused as to what it was.
"As much as I love the unique and quirky statement of our love that the green lifesavers make, I want you to have a special ring, a ring that shows how much we love each other." We walked hand in hand into the store and setted into the plush seats waiting for the manager to serve us.

I looked at all the discarded rings that Keavy had nixed. They were all either too flashy, too plain or much to big. She was not a frilly or showy girl and she didn't want a ring that drew too much attention to her. The manager looked puzzled and frazzled and then suddenly his eyes lit up and he walked into the back.
"Are you sure you aren't happy with the lifesaver Yank, I don't need a ring, I am so picky" Keavy ran her fingertips over my lips and smiled.
"Let's make a deal, if you don't find a ring today we will go to the grocery store, put a nickle in the machine and whatever ring comes out of the bubblegum machine will be your ring" I laughed and turned my attention back to the manager who was carrying a tiny velvet box.
"This ring is unique, it belonged to a wealthy irish woman whose fiancee had gone off to war and on her way across the sea to identify his remains she lost his ring. She was devestated and immediatly made a claim for the ring. She arrived in London and in the pocket of his coat was her ring. Noone knew for sure how it got there but she took it as a sign that there love was forever, that it could travel across the world to her. She died in a pub bombing 10 years ago in Belfast and her family was so distraught that they sold everything to us, including this. It is cracked slightly but we can fix it" The man handed the ring to Keavy who gasped when she saw it.
The ring was platinum, an emerald cut diamond with a wide band. She stared at the inside of the ring and turned white.
"Baby what is it?" I asked, taking the ring and scanning it. "A&K forever" I whispered.
"Is there something wrong with the ring?" the man asked.
"No, it is incredible, amazing really, our names are Alex and Keavy, A&K. We will take it" I replied. This ring had found it's way to us, another sign that we were meant to be together, that our love was forever.

"I cannot believe that their initials were the same as ours" Keavy stared at the ring that now decorated her finger and smiled. "It's spooky isn't it?"
"No it was fate Keavy, strictly fate" I pulled her in close and we kissed in the middle of the busy sidewalk.

If only I had known what hand fate would deal us, that our love would
play
out eerily like the owners of the ring previous. If I had known that
the
ring would have led to the demise of our love I would have put it back
in
the velvet box and taken my chance that a diamond ring was hiding in
the
bubblegum machine.
