When Irish Eyes Are Smiling

"I can't believe that you are leaving again" I rested my forehead on hers and held her tight. Her plane was leaving in 10 minutes and I was trying to memorize the feel of her touch, memorize it so I could play it back on the long nights when I was missing her so bad that I would have quit the band just to feel her touch on my skin.

"Yank we will be fine, me have made it this far we can make it a little longer" Keavy looked down at the antique engagement ring that decorated her finger and smiled. "This truly was a gift from god. I cannot believe that they had the same initials as us."

"Let's hope that our love has a happier ending" I kissed her one last time before she boarded her plane.

"So you are sure that you can manage this?" I was finishing the last minute plans on my surprise for Keavy. Her mother and father had been the driving force behind the surprise, doing all the planning and arranging from their end while I was on tour. Keavy had managed to get a week off of work to go home to Ireland to celebrate her parent's 25 wedding anniversary. She had planned to spend the final 3 days of her vacation with me in Spain, but what she didn't know was that I would be meeting in her Ireland and presenting her with my surprise.

"Mah you can't imagine how good it feels to be home." Keavy sat in her mother's kitchen, eating her fresh soda bread and drinking the thick milk that she craved in Orlando.

"You are sparklin Keavy, you love him don't you" Her mother sat down beside her and stroked her hair "I want to let you know that your father and I are very happy that you chose AJ to be your husband."

"Mah I love him more then anything" Keavy hugged her mother and rested her head on her shoulder.

I stared at the dress that my mother and Mrs O'Carroll had chosen for Keavy.. Our mothers were insane together, they acted like school girls, laughing and carrying on. As much as Keavy and I were a perfect match so were our families. The dress was a flowing linen dress, covered by a muted green over coat, the sleeves billowed in sheaths and the celtic chain of love knots would sit underneath her breasts in an empire waist. I looked closely and almost cried when I saw what our mothers had sewn into the dress. In the bodice a four leaf clover was embroidered along with our initials and at the end of the celtic chain hung 2 lifesavers that had been joined together. Our mothers had obviously taken into consideration our symbol of love, the lifesavers. I couldn't wait to see how she would look, what a vision of the perfect bride she would make.

It all seemed too perfect.
