"That's great Jessi, I will arrange to have a bus waiting at the airport to pick the guys up, see you tomorrow," Skylar finished her conversation with the boy's PR rep and she resumed decorating the hall for that evening's Christmas party at the shelter. She had been working so hard on the fundraiser that was set for the following evening that she had almost forgotten about presents for the children who would be attending that evenings'party. She had spent the morning combing the very crowded malls hoping to find gifts that would please the 40 children.
She was walking by Justine, a boutique when she saw a suit that would be perfect for Mikey's mother. She had confessed to Skylar yesterday that searching for a job when she had nothing new and clean to wear was hard. Skylar bought the suit and had it wrapped. She bought hats and mitts and various toys for the children and went back to the shelter.
Around noon Skylar excused herself to make a phone call. She went back to her office and called Kim Ann. She laughed when she got her message. "Hello, you have reached the office of Kim Ann Hearty. I am away from my desk holding Santa hostage; if you ever want to see the fat man again, leave a mercedes utility vehicle and a single, attractive man under my tree. Merry Christmas!”
"Kim Ann, you are crazy! Your boss must just love that message. Just wanted to make sure that you are still coming to the benefit tomorrow. Call me tonight." Skylar hung up the phone and laughed. Her friend was a live wire who lived life to the fullest. She was younger than Skylar but the two were as close as people the same age could be. Skylar started to eat her salad and logged on to her email. The list was quiet and she left only one message.
Hi Hootchies!
I will be offline for a few days. The big benefit for my shelter is tomorrow and I have lots to do. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and talk to you on Monday.
Oh yes, I have picked out my dress. It is a long and very form fitting red dress with black fur cuffs and collar. It is perfect for the christmas benefit.
Hugs to you all,
Skylar.
She logged off and finished her salad.

The guys had finished their rehearsal for the following evening's benefit and they had the rest of the day off. Kevin, who was trying in vain to shake the flu and rest his sore throat decided to go home and sleep.
"See you tomorrow morning, Kev, if you change your mind we are all going to be at Booms," Howie shouted to his friend.
When Kevin got home he crawled into bed and closed his eyes. He laid still for a while and then was stirred awake by a coughing attack. He hacked and coughed and reached for the honey and lemon tea that his mother had always insisted worked wonders he drank it down quicky and waited for the soothing coating to work on his throat.
He knew that sleep wasn't an option
until the
medicine and tea kicked in so he decided to see the action on the net.
He
sent off emails to his sister in law and best friend and frowned when
he saw
no message from the person who he had come to look forward to getting
mail
from. He did however see a post from the woman named Skylar. Kevin
hadn't
been able to shake the feeling that he knew he had heard that name
before.
He read her post and almost stopped breathing when he read that she
would be
attending the same benefit as he. He knew that it would be too much of
a
coincidence if Ottawa was holding two benefits for homeless shelters on
the
same night. He made a mental note to remember what she was wearing. "It
has
to be the brunette who flew down to Orlando to meet with us," Kevin said
aloud. He remembered an email he had gotten from his mystery confidante
and
as he re read the post about Orlando and the magic it held he couldn't
help
but wonder if the two people were the same person. "I guess I will find
out
tomorrow," Kevin thought to himself anxiously.
