I Don't Care Who You Are

-----Chapter 12-----

Angela, Brian and Nick each entered the house with two bags of groceries apiece. They sat them down on the counter and Nick ran back outside to get the McDonald's bags. He poked his head back in the door within seconds. "Brian, can you help me carry all of this? My God, it looks like we bought 'em out."

Kenneth was waiting in the Durango, for them to finish removing the food so he could get back to work. Nick warned him before shutting the passenger door, "I'd better not see any dents, dings, scratches, whatever on this vehicle. Clear?"

Kenneth shot him an irritated look back. "Likewise for my vehicle. You tell Angela that I don't want you guys cruising around the town again, okay?"

"We'll tell her," Brian said, trying to ward off any conflicts between Kenneth and Nick over the vehicle situation.

As they were walking back up to the house with the food, Nick asked Brian, "So why are you so nice to him? I don't like the way he treats Angela.....or us, for that matter."

"Well," said Brian thoughtfully, "The bottom line is, Nick, that she's got to live with him after we're gone and you don't want to make her life miserable, now do you?"

"No....I guess not, but I still don't like him." Nick replied.

"I thought you knew him," Brian said as they reached the door.

"I don't even remember him. He knew my mom when we first moved to Orlando, but I don't remember ever seeing him," Nick said shrugging. "I'll have to ask Angela about that."

"Maybe they had an affair or something," Brian said offhandedly as he opened the door and slipped inside.

"Don't be dissin' my mom, B-rok!" Nick answered sharply. "She's got better taste than THAT."

"So you think...." Brian added, laughing.

"So I KNOW." Nick glared at Brian.

"Who knows, he could be your daddy." Brian said, picking at Nick all the more.

"Uh, hellllooooo?! He didn't meet her until we moved to Orlando." Nick said, taking the bait.

"Okay, so he's Aaron's daddy," Brian replied.

"You know! You're pissing me off, Brian! Now stop it." Nick stood there giving Brian an icy stare until Angela entered the kitchen and distracted him.

"What's going on? Did I miss something?" she asked.

"No!" They answered simultaneously.

Nick handed Angela her happy meal. "And you have to eat the box, too, because it's evidence of my felony."

"I ain't eatin' the box, Nick, but I WILL come visit you in the pokey." She snipped back at him, smiling.

Kevin had walked in during her comment. "Yeah, maybe they'll even let you have conjugal visits." He turned and winked at Angela as her face turned a bright red.

Nick was unscathed by his comment. "What's conjugal visits?"

Kevin rolled his eyes and shook his head. "You tell him, Brian, I'm not."

Nick turned to Brian. "What's conjugal visits?" he asked again.

"I'm sure you'd figure it out, Nick," Brian said laughing.

"I don't know," said Kevin looking at Nick skeptically.

Angela had taken her happy meal and snuck into the living room, too embarrassed to stick around for the rest of the teasing. Nick followed her into the room, just as Howie and AJ came down the stairs.

"Hey, Howie, what's conjugal visits?" Nick asked, glancing at Angela curiously.

Howie tilted his head in thought and turned to AJ, "That's where they let you have sex in jail, isn't it?"

"Yup," said AJ, smiling. "Sex in jail. Kinky."

Nick laughed and turned away from Angela. "Oh..... I see." He couldn't even look at her when they all sat down on the floor to eat.
