Love in a Movie Theater

Chapter 4

They sat at a cozy table in the back corner where they could have the most privacy. They looked at their menus, and placed their orders.

When there seemed to be a down moment in the conversation, Brian said, "So, seen any good movies lately?" as he smiled at her.

"Actually, this may come as a surprise, but I don't really watch all that many movies. I guess since I already spend so much time there, I hate going for enjoyment." God, I love his smile, and the way his eyes sort of crinkle up, she thought to herself.

"I guess I could understand that. It would be sorta like me joining a choir after all the singing I already do!" he smiled again.

"Ok, I have to tell you something. You have absolutely the cutest smile I have ever seen." Julie said. He smiled again.

"Oh, really?" he said, still smiling, actually starting to look a little embarassed.

"Well, besides mine that is." she teased.

"Ouch. That one hurt. Well, I guess I'll settle for second best, because I'm not about to argue with you on that one." he said.

Julie blushed, but was incredibly flattered at his compliment. "Thanks." she said, smiling at him. He smiled back at her, and then they started laughing.

"If you don't stop smiling at me, I'm just going to keep smiling back at you, and we'll be here all night staring at each other's smiles!" he said, laughing.

"I know. It's kind of a hard thing not to do, you know? We'll just have to find other things to do with out mouthes."

"Oh, really? Like what?" he asked, coyly.

"Oh, that's not what I meant! I meant eating." she said, laughing with him.

"Yeah, eating! Here comes our food!" he said. Julie laughed, and he said, "Hey, no more smiling!" this caused her to laugh even more. "Now, I thought I told you to stop. No more smiling, you hear? Don't smile!" he continued, with a mock serious look on his face, shaking his finger at her. She just kept on laughing, and finally, he laughed along with her.

They talked and joked all through their meal. When they finished eating, Brian paid the bill, and they walked out laughing to his car. "Where to now, Brok?" she asked, using the name she had been calling him that she got from his nickname, B-Rok, but combined it all into one syllable.

"You know, I'm going to stop responding to that name eventually!" Brian said.

"Oh, you know you like it." Julie said.

"Well, it's different. It makes me sound like some rich, preppy guy."

"You mean you're not? Then I'm sorry, but I can't see you anymore!" she teased.

"Ha ha, not funny!" he said, as he stuck his tongue out at her.

"Ok, that was a good come-back, not! So, back to my original question, where are we going now?"

"Putt-Putt. I challenge you to a game of miniature golf. Don't worry- I won't beat you by too much, since it is our first date and everything." he said, winking at her.

"Oh, so you think you're going to beat me, huh? We'll see."

"You wanna make a bet on it?" he asked.

"Sure. What are the stakes?"

"Loser buys ice cream afterwards!" he said.

"Ok. Be prepared to lose.....Brok!" she said, laughing. They laughed and joked with each other until they arrived at the course. That's what Brian really liked about her. He loved it when he could joke back and forth with a girl without her actually taking him seriously, and they were both obviously very sarcastic people who loved to tease. Julie was just glad that he had the ability to be teased without getting upset, which was something that most guys just couldn't handle, as she had found out many times in the past.
