"Hey, Hollywood." Brian walked into my room. I sat indian style on my bed. I was ready for my date, or whatever it was with AJ. I just wasn't ready for all the questions. Brian sat next to me. "I really want us to be friends." Brian said.
"I do, too, Brian."
"You just seem like you're pulling away from me."
"There are just things, Brian. Things in my life that are...just screwed." I tried to explain.
"Yeah, Mom told me."
"She told you?" I quickly asked.
"Well, she didn't tell me what it was."
"I asked her not to."
"Why?" Brian questioned.
"Because I don't like talking about it." I looked down at the checkered bed spread.
"Well, I'm here when you need me." He offered.
"Thanks."
"And, AJ is downstairs waiting on you." I crawled off the bed and headed to the foyer.
"You look nice." AJ said when I rounded the corner. I was wearing a spaghetti strap, clingy, cotton, dress. It almost touched the floor, and it had a slit on each side of to my knee. I wore blue to match my eyes.
"Thanks. You do too." He took my hand and led me outside.
"We're gonna take Brian's car, okay?"
"That's fine." I smiled. AJ opened my door for me and I climbed in. "Where are we going?"
"A bunch of places." Was all he said.
"And now I'm a Backstreet Boy." AJ finished. We sat in the car with the top down gazing out onto a lake.
"Wow." I layed my head back on the seat and looked at him.
"So, tell me about you." AJ said.
"Well, what's to know? I lived in California for 18 years then I moved here."
"That's all?" AJ asked. "What about your family? Do you have any brothers or sisters?"
"Nope. Only child." I looked away. Maybe he'd stop soon. I looked back to him.
"What about your parents?"
"I'd much rather talk about you." I announced. AJ didn't say anything. I leaned over and kissed him. He was shocked at first, then he went along with it, and returned the kiss. I felt his hand cup my jawline. For the first time ever my heart skipped, my knees went weak, and a tingle ran down my spine. Just from the kiss.
There had to be something there. I slid my arm around his waist and he did the same. AJ pulled me in closer as our kissed deepened. God, he could kiss so good. I contemplated the tongue, but figured it was too soon. Just then, I felt his tongue move into my mouth. Guess it wasn't too soon. AJ entwined his fingers in my hair as I wrapped my hand around his neck. I lightly ran the tips of my fingernails through the back of his head and across his neck. Finally, we pulled away. I pulled a lock of my hair behind my ear and looked into his deep, brown eyes.
"That was...um, quite the first kiss." AJ laughed.
"I'm sorry."
"That you kissed me?" AJ jerked back.
"No, no...I mean, I don't know. I just...I thought that..." AJ put his pointer finger on my lips.
"It's okay. I liked it." The two of us smiled.
"Me, too."
"Carlon, I understand that there are things that you can't talk about, but I really like you. I know I just met you last night, but...I still really like you. Just tell me now. Is there any chance that you and I will ever be more than just friends?"
"You don't know what you're getting into, AJ." I warned.
"I know that it's beautiful." AJ brushed my cheek. What was I supposed to do? This guy was gorgeous, he liked me, and he was the best kisser ever.
"I'd love to be more than friends." AJ smiled. "Can we just take it slow?" I asked.
"You bet."
