~*~Chapter 9~*~

I sat at the bay window of AJ's room watching the waves crash upon the shore. In a way it made me feel like I was back home. Home in L.A. Why couldn't I go back? Dad's best friend had taken over the agency, or so I had read in People. My house was still there. My room, my pool...everything. It hadn't been touched. My bed was still made. I just couldn't make myself go back.

The guys were flying out to L.A. sometime within the following month. I'd been invited, but I turned it down. I think I upset AJ a bit. Hopefully, he understood. I heard AJ turning over in his bed behind me. I didn't look back. I just kept my eyes connected with the water. I pulled my knees up to my chest and wrapped my arms around them.

"Carlon." AJ said. I turned to see him sitting on the edge of the bed. He stood and walked next to me. "Are you okay, baby?" I didn't answer. I looked down at the ground then back to him.

"AJ, will you hold me?" I asked. AJ opened his arms and I walked into them. He kissed the top of my head.

"Sorry about last night." He apologized again. I didn't care anymore.

"Today's the anniversary." I told him.

"What?" I don't think he got what I was talking about.

"They died a year ago today." He released me and looked into my eyes. "That's why I wasn't...'in the mood' last night."

"You don't have to explain." AJ pulled me back and held me.

"Please come to L.A. with us." Angela begged me. We sat in Brian's backyard at a picnic table watching the guys play basketball.

"I can't, Angel." I told her.

"Come on, you can show us around the town." Fran said.

"It's been so long since I've been."

"Look, Carlon, you don't have to go. If you really don't want to we understand, but...I think you should. It might be good for you." Danielle sincerely told me.

"I'll rethink it." I promised. I did want to go. I wanted to be back in L.A. more than anything. I just...I was scared.

"Won again!" Brian bragged. He approached our table and grabbed a bottle of water.

"Hey, that's mine." Layla said tugging at his shirt. In the middle of his drink, he poured the water all over his face. He then shook his head, throwing water all over us.

"Gross, Brian." Fran said wiping water off of her arms.

"Gross, Brian." Brian mocked in a high pitched tone. He stripped off his shirt and threw it in the middle of the table. "I'm just pickin', girl." Brian patted Fran's shoulder before walking back to the court.

"Can you believe we put up with them?" Danielle asked as we all observed a wrestling match between Nick and Kevin.

"I know." Angela rolled her eyes.

"Okay," I started. The girls all looked at me. "I'll go."

"What?" Fran questioned.

"I'm gonna go to L.A."
