Allie was sitting in the cab as it delivered her to the hotel in which she would break the heart of the only man she had ever loved aside from her father. She went over and over in her head what she was going to say, she wanted to make sure that Howie understood that she still loved him and that she just needed the freedom to concentrate on her own career. The cab pulled up in front of the hotel and she tipped the driver and got out. She stood in front of the hotel trying to make her heart stop beating so fast. She took a deep breath and walked into the front lobby. She found out what room Howie was staying in and made her way into the elevator and pressed the button. On her way up she almost stopped a thousand times and ran back to Florida, but she knew she had to do it. The elevator chimed signalling that the time had come to face her fear. She stepped reluctanlty out of the elevator and walked down the hall to Howie's room. She took a deep breath and knocked. She heard someone stumble out of bed and look in the peep hole, she started to cry as Howie swung the door open and buried his face in her shoulder.
"Baby, I am so glad to see you, what are you doing here?" Howie asked.
"Howie, we need to talk, and it can't be said over the phone." Allie looked at Howie with tears in her eyes.
"Well you can't be pregnant, because we have never slept together." Howie joked trying to make light of a rather confusing and scary situation.
Allie took Howie's hand and led him back into the room. She sat down on his bed and looked into the big brown eyes that she lusted over every night, the tousled curls that she dreamt of and the lips that felt like velvet on hers. "Howie, I love you with all my heart,and sometimes it is scary to think about how much I care for you.."
Howie leaned in to kiss her but she backed away. " Howie I can't" she wiped away the tears that were blurring her vision. "I need a break, with the case starting and getting new clients I just don't have the time to commit to a relationship...You can't imagine how hard this is for me to tell you, Pooh you are the first thing I think of when I get up in the morning and the last thing I think of when I fall asleep."
"Baby then why do you want to end what we have.." Howie was crying as he watched the woman he dreamed of spending eterntiy with, tell him it was over. " I am not demanding, we are oth busy and we both understand each other's commitments, baby I can't lose you, iw on't be able to sing and perform if I don't have you to share it with...Allie please don't do this..." Howie was crying and pleading with her, he reached over to wipe the tears from her face but she stood up."
"Howie I will always love you and I know I will never find anyone who loved me as much as you did, Howie I need this, please let me do this." Allie looked at Howie one last time and walked out of the door.
Howie watched the door shut and fell down to the floor crying. "How could she do this...god I love her.." Howie crumpled into a ball and cried for the loss of the woman and the love she had taken with her.

Allie brushed away her tears and tidied her hair as she walked out of the elevator and into the foyer of the hotel, she walked quickly, she needed to get back into the cab before she turned around and ran right back into Howie's arms. She was almost to the door when she heard someone shouting her name. She kept walking afraid that Howie had followed after her. She felt the hands on her shoulder and she turned coming face to face with a concerned nick.
"Red, what are you doing here?" Nick asked with a smile which soon turned to a look of concern when he saw her tear streaked face. "Did you and Howie have a fight?"
"Nick, I broke up with Howie, I devastated him, god Nick it wa sso hard to see him cry" Nick pulled her in close for a hug and felt her body wrack with tears.
"God Allie, you foolish girl, everyone searches their entire life to find that one special love and you found it and set it free...." Nick was shocked that those words had come out of his mouth, he knew what Allie needed was a friendly voice and words of encouragement not a scolding.
"Nick, you wouldn't understand, god I love him so much..I have to leave, promise me you will take care of Howie, AJ has Chia, Kevin has Sandra and Brian has Leighanne, you and Howie need to stick together...promise me Nick" Allie looked into Nick's blue eyes.
"Allie I would never break a promise to you." Nick kissed her cheek and
smiled "Now let's get you back on the plane. The two walked out and got
into
the cab.
