AJ and Chia made their way down the crowded red carpet and stopped for
interviews with the various media outlets. Chia posed for pictures for
Seventeen Magazine and People while AJ answered questions about their
performance that would be presented that evening.

Nick and Mandy denied their relationship and replied that they were
there as
friends and nothing more. Nick's mouth dropped when he saw a stunning
redhead exit the limousine and take the hand of Drew Lachey from 98*
"Allie,
what the fuck is she doing here?" Nick excused himself and went over to
confront her.
Drew and Allie were about to make their entrance on the red carpet when
she
felt hands on her arm "Nick, you look great" Allie leaned in to hug her
friend.
"Allie what the hell are you doing here.....with HIM" Nick nodded
towards
Drew.
"HE is my client and my friend, he asked me to come and I accepted, I
had to
be here anyway for them so I figured why not go together." Allie smiled
"Allie I love you, and I want you to be happy, but I think you could
have
been much more respectful of Howie's feelings, how do you think he is
going
to feel when he sees you here with him.."
"Nicky this is my business, we aren't together anymore..now go back to
your
date" Alllie snapped and turned to Drew "Are you ready?"
Drew smiled "If you are" Allie threw a glance at Nick and took Drew's
hand
"let's go"
Nick watched as Allie and Drew started down the red carpet. "What the
hell
was she thinking..dammit I better go and break this to Howie"

Howie was being interviewed by Ed the Sock from Much Music when he saw
Allie
and Drew posing for a picture for In Style Magazine.
"Polly let's get out of here...NOW" he looked at hi sister with tears
in his
eyes and the 2 excused themselves and walked into the theatre.

"So Allie, why aren't you here with Howie?" Joan Rivers asked.
"Well Joan, Howie and I decided to concentrate on our
careers..separately.."
Allie smiled uneasily at the reporter.
"So is this your new man?"
"I represent Drew and his band 98*, we are friends and decided to come
together, sorry to disappoint you but nothing is going on.." Allie
smiled
brightly for the camera and walked away.
"Wow, you handled that fantastic" Drew leaned over and whispered.
"I practiced it 100 times in the mirror before I left" Allie laughed
and
walked towards the entrance. The 2 were standing in line when they
bumped
into a couple ahead of them.
"I am sor.." Howie stopped when he saw who had bumped into him.
"Hi Allie" Howie tried to smile
"Hello Howie, Hi Polly, you remember Drew?" Allie was uneasy and
uncomfortable talking to Howie while standing with Drew.
"Well have fun tonight" Howie smiled and leaned in and kissed Allie's
cheek,
whispering "You look beautiful, even though you shattered my heart I
still
love you." and he walked into the building.
Allie wiped the tears from her eyes and felt Drew squeeze her hand. She
smiled and they walked in.

To Allie's chagrin 98* was seated directly behind the boys and beside
N'Sync. "Of all the thousands of seats they had to seat me behind
Howie" she
thought to herself. She sat down between Drew and Jeff. Judging from
the
seat markers, Howie and Polly would be sitting directly in front of
Drew and
AJ and Chia would be sitting in front of her. She and Drew were talking
to
Puff Daddy when Kevin and his date arrived. Kevin did a double glance
and
smiled when he saw Allie
"Hi Red...you look beautiful" Kevin leaned over the seat and kissed
Allie.
He knew he should be mad at her for breaking his friend's heart but he
had
always liked Allie and he could feel no ill will towards her.
Nick and Mandy were next and Nick winked and whispered "I am sorry, I
guess
I am just upset that I didn't ask you first , save a dance for me
tonight"
Brian and Leighanne smiled and waved when they saw her, nothing out of
character for them, they were always the most distant to her.
Chia squealed when she saw her sister and hugged her tight "God Allie
cat
you look beautiful, momma and daddy are probaby amazed at how well we
clean
up eh..though Momma would probably say we are wearing too much makeup."
"I see you wasted no time in finding another man...watch out she'll use
you
and toss you away" AJ sneered at Allie and sat down.
Allie sat speechless as she let the harsh words sink in..
"Chia hugged her "He is just protecting Howie, don't let him ruin your
evening.." Chia kissed her sister and sat down beside AJ scolding him.
Howie and Polly were the last ones to be seated. Howie turned red when
he
saw Allie seated behind him. He gave a shy smile and quickly sat down.

The awards show was filled with musical performances and unexpected
surprises. Throughout the evening Allie caught AJ's evil glances over
his
shoulder at her, and each time Nick would look back with a reassuring
smile
and Drew would squeeze her hand.
The category for favourite song came on and as the nominees were
announced
Allie was torn at who to wish for, 98* were her clients and the boys
were,
well used to be her friends. She held her breath as Mariah Carey
announced
the winner..
"And the winner of favourite song is.....I Do by 98*" Allie squealed
and
jumped out of her seat and hugged Drew tight.."Congratulations." The
camera
caught the two hugging and kissing. Allie sat back down as the guys
made
their way onto the stage to accept their awards. Chia turned to her
sister
"Congratualtions Allie Cat" AJ glared at Chia and then at Allie.
98* thanked their family and their fans and then each member said their
own
thanks, " I want to thank my brother Nick, you are the man, my parents
and
grandparents, our manager and record label, and most importantly our
fans..." the crowd was cheering, he stepped away from the mic and
waited for
the cheering to subside "I also want to thank a special person who just
recently entered my life.." Drew looked into the audience and winked at
Allie "Strength and Courage will help you survive" and they walked off
stage.
Allie blushed as she saw the camera zoom in on her. She pretended to be
busy
searching in her purse.

In the media room the reporters were not interested in 98*'s win they
were
more intersted in the rumors that Drew was dating Howie Dorough's
girlfriend.
"We are just very close friends...nothing more, she is going through a
rough
time and I am helping her out." Drew thanked everyone and walked back
to his
seat.

"And the final award of the night is People's Choice Award for
Favourite
Music Group" Rebecca Romajn and Christy Turlington announced.
Allie held Drew's hand as the nominees were announced, once again the
two
groups were up against each other.
"The winner is Backstreet Boys"
The guys jumped up and hugged each other, Chia kissed AJ and then
turned and
hugged Allie, Nick reached for Allie ignoring his bandmates "We did it
Red..we did it" Allie kissed Nick's cheek " I am so proud of you...now
get
up there" Allie was smiling as she watched her friends celebrating, she
was
not prepared for what would happen next, she was about to sit down when
Howie turned to her and kissed her, Allie felt his lips against hers
and was
lost in the moment, the two separated " I am very glad you are here"
Howie
replied and walked off leaving a stunned Allie in the aisle.
" I want to thank my best friend Allie for flying in to be with me.."
Nick
said in his acceptance speech and winked at Allie.
"Monkey this one is for you" AJ held up the award and smiled at Chia.
"I want to dedicate this award to my sister Caroline and to the rest of
my
family, I also want to say thank you to someone who has been a big part
of
this, Sweet Pea I love you and I miss you"
