Nick sat in the chair beside the bed where his girlfriend slept and he fiddled with the ring he held in his hand. "She can't mean it, it had to be the drugs talking" Nick cupped Kim Ann's hand in his and brough his head down to meet he. "God sweet pea I love you so much, you cannot mean this"

"Here you go, this should help calm you down" Nikola handed her friend a cup of chamomille tea and sat beside her on the couch.
"Thanks Nik, I know I am putting you out and I am sorry" Skylar smiled softly at her friend and rested the cup of tea on her knees. "I just didn't want to be alone and I didn't know where else to go"
"You are always welcome here, Sky how is Kim Ann? Nick called her a while ago and told me that she was out of surgery but I haven't heard from him since.
" I don't know, Nick told me to go home, he blames me and I can't say that I am shocked. I lost my husband and now I lost my best friend, what the hell am I going to do?" Skylar burst out into tears and hugged her friend.
"Shh shhh that a girl, cry, get it all out" Nikola rocked with her friend in her arms.

"Nick?" Howie walked quietly into the room and whispered "Jessi and I are heading home, do you need anything before we go?"
Nick looked up at his friend, and it was then that Howie saw how pale and red eyed his young friend was. "Nicky are you okay?"
"She won't marry me D, she gave me back the ring" Howie walked over to his friend and put his hand on his shoulder.
"Nicky why don't you come out into the hall, this is not the place to talk about this." Howie and Nick walked into the hall "What did she say Nicky?"
"She gave me back the ring and told me that she couldn't marry me...D what did I do, what made her change her mind?" Nick started to cry on his friend's shoulder.
Howie looked up and saw Brent and Crissy run into the lobby. He waved for them to join him.
"Nicky, Nicky how is she?" Crissy slipped in between Howie and Nick and wrapped her arms around Nick. "Hun how is she?"
"We lost the baby, she is sleeping and she called off the engagement"
"Oh Nicky" Crissy ran her hands across Nick's back, trying to soothe him. "Let's go outside and get some fresh air" Crissy walked with her arm around his waist and holding Brent's hand. They sat down on the picnic table and she looked at her friend. "Hun I am sure you are confused and devestated but imagine how Kim Ann is feeling. She has been telling everyone about the baby, she felt it growing inside her and now she knows that it is dead. My god Nicky the baby she loved was dead inside her and now it has been ripped from her womb. She is in a lot of shock and she isn't thinking straight. Don't take her words seriously hun, I am sure that once she comes to grip with what has happened she will need you to be there, to help her get through the healing process....TOGETHER" Crissy smiled and kissed Nick's forehead. "feel a bit better?"
"A little, thanks Crissy, Hey B you have a wonderful finacee. How did the two of us ever end up with these two wonderful and incredible women?"
"We lucked out Nick, and I am not complaining" Brent kissed his fiancee and
smiled at his best friend.
