"Hun that was Nick, he needs us all at his house for dinner tonight" Skylar walked into the bathroom and smiled when she saw Kevin lying in the tub with his eyes closed. "Want some company?"
Kevin opened his eyes and started at the beautiful woman sitting on the tub. His heart ached because he knew that the decision he had made was the wrong one. HE knew that it wasn't fair to stay with Skylar when his heart now belonged to Kim Ann but in his own selfish way he didn't want to be alone, and if he couldn't have Kim Ann he would settle for the woman he had loved for 11 years. "you don't have to ask Sky, hop in"

Jane and Bob sat on the couch staring at Howie and Jessi. Brian and Leighanne were in the kitchen talking to Nick and Kevin and Skylar were just getting out of their car. "Nick what is this all about" Jane asked impatiently.
Everyone settled into the living room and their mouths dropped when Kim Ann and Nick walked into the living room each holding one of the twins.
"Nick you didn't, oh dear god you did" Jane stood up. "I am not staying here, I won't tolerate this, Nicky that woman is pure evil"
"Hey munchkins why don't you go out to the backyard and play for a bit" Nick waited until his children had left the house and then he turned to face his mother. "You know what Mom, I have let you control my life for too long. I love the fact that you took my side and were willing to hate the woman who hurt me but it is over." Nick took Kim Ann's hand "This woman is the woman who will be my side forever and I won't have you talking about her like that. We won't stop you from seeing the twins but if you insist on bad mouthing Kim Ann I won't let you be a part of my life"
"You've said what you have to say, are you finished?" Jane asked, huffily.
"Yes, I am done"
"Good because I have something to say" Jane walked over to Kim Ann and looked in her eyes "You have been stringing my son along for years, you had the twins to trap him and I am not going to stand by while you hurt him again."
"MOM" Nick yelled.
"You are a filthy whore" and with that Jane slapped Kim Ann and walked out of the house.
"Baby, are you okay?" Nick rushed to his girlfriend's side and tried to comfort her.
Kevin watched the scene and wanted to cry. He wanted to be the one comforting Kim Ann, he wanted to kiss her tears and stroke her hair. Instead the person who caused her so much pain had the pleasure and honor of soothing her.

Kevin walked out onto the patio and sipped his drink. He was watching Kim Ann play with the kids. She was a natural, she gave the eight kids her undivided attention and she seemed to love being with them all.
"You love her, you fell in love with her didn't you?"
Kevin turned around and came face to face with Nick. "Come on Nick,get real, she is my best friend, my little sister, and she is my little bros girlfriend."
"I have seen you watching her, I have been noticing it for years. The way your eyes followed her whenever she moved. Kevin I know that it is near impossible not to fall in love with her but she is mine. No matter how hard you try she will always be mine." Nick's eyes flashed jealousy "I could treat her like dirt and she would always come back to me. We are meant to be together and noone is ever going to come between us. You stay away from her, don't fill her head with shit, if you bother her in anyway I will fucking kill you" Nick bore holes in Kevin's eyes as he issued his warning.
Kevin watched Nick run towards Kim Ann "You are going to lose little bro, I love her and I am never going to give up. It has taken me 11 years to realise what true love is and I now know it is Kim Ann"

"Well wasn't that the biggest turn of events you have ever seen" Jessi and Howie lay in bed, talking about the evening's event.
"Jess something is not right. I mean I know Nick loves Kim Ann but he can't do a 360 overnight. One minute he is spewing shit at her and the next he chooses her over his mother."
"Howie, my god he is in love with her, he probably came to his senses and realised he couldn't live without her."
"Honey this time I am right, something made Nick change his mind about her" Howie punched the pillow and tried to get comfortable.

"Are you happy?" Skylar whispered to Kevin as they made love. She looked down at him and kissed his eyelids. "baby I am so happy, I feel so alive, so free. It feels so good to have you inside me again" She kissed his chest and worked her way up to his mouth.
Kevin returned her kisses but flipped her on her back so that he didn't have to look at her. He couldn't bear to see the love in her eyes while he was thinking about another woman, a woman who was spoken for, a woman whose heart belonged to his best friend. He entered her and as she moaned his name he closed his eyes and pictured Kim Ann's face. "God help me to get through this"

The twins were so excited to have their mother and father together again that they insisted on sleeping in their bed. Nick watched Kim Ann stroke
Alex's hair as he slept. "What are you thinking about Sweet Pea?" Nick asked, breaking Kim Ann's thoughts.
"How happy I am, how right this feels" Kim Ann lied. "Nick how did we ever go without each other for so long?"
Nick leaned over and brushed his lips against hers. He avoided looking at her stomach "We made a mistake but now it's been corrected" Nick kissed her again and then closed his eyes to sleep.
Kim Ann lay awake in the dark thinking. Kevin's face kept flashing in her
mind, his gentle smile, the softness of his lips when they brushed against
hers. It was all too much to take. She climbed out of bed and walked
downstairs, clutching her cell phone. She dialed the number and waited for
an answer. She smiled when she heard the deep voice and the accent she had
come to love "God I needed to talk to you, god...how do I...oh god....I love
you" and she hung up the phone, holding it close to her chest as she cried.
