"Kymmi those two are precious" Denise and Kim Ann were sitting in MacDonalds watching the twins play in the activity room.
"They are becoming more of a handful every day, with Nick gone it seems like I am on a never ending ride. He is missing so much of their lives, and it has only been a month. It seems like he has been gone forever."
Denise smiled and reached for the woman's hand and squeezed "Kim Ann I can assure you that never a moment goes by that Nicky is not thinking of you and those beautiful children." It was on the tip of her tongue to confess to Kim Ann about the late night visit from Nick but she knew that he needed to confess his true feelings to Kim Ann, not her.
"Denise have I told you how much I love you?" Kim Ann smiled and hugged the woman tightly.
"Alex and Molly are so proud of you and Nick, they are watching over you both" Denise whispered in Kim Ann's ear and was rewarded with a tighter embrace.

"AmyLynn I am running late at work, could you please feed the kids and give them their baths, and I will be home later" Skylar hung up her cell and paused at the closed door. She was poised to knock on the door when the door opened and an extremely handsome man stood in front of her.
"Hi beautiful, I am glad you made it, I thought you had second thoughts" the man took Skylar's hand and led her into his apartment.

Jessi was deep into her book when Garret knocked on her office door. "Jessi?"
Jessi looked up and hid the book she was reading in her desk drawer "Hi Gar, come on in" Her editor walked confidently across the office and sat down in the high backed wing chair that sat across from Jessi's desk.
"Jessi Random House wants to publish the follow up to Sunset in Boston. They are salivating at the advertising possibilities for this follow up book"
"Salivating huh? Gar you are too much sometimes" Jessi laughed "So what is the selling point of this offer?"
"Would you like to grab some dinner and we can go over their offer?"
"I can't Gar, tonight's the BSB's Better Half Support Group" Jessi teased.
"Ah yes, the ladies who stand behind the men, what is the topic tonight?" Garret teased.
"Can something plastic really take the place of Howie, Kev and Nicky" Jessi burst out laughing as her editor turned crimson.
"Well with that I am going to leave, how about we meet at 10 am on Monday to go over Random House's offer, this way it gives me some time to let legal look it over, have a great weekend Jess"
"You too Gar and give my love to Sheana and the kids" Jessi waited until the man had left and then picked up the book she had hidden. "Infertility in the New Millennium"

"Skeelo I just want to make sure that we are still on for tonight, Jessi is going to meet us at Alfie's at 8. Call me if you want to head over together." Kim Ann walked back into the living room in time to see Alex sitting on his sister's head. "ALEXANDER JAMES CARTER..GET OFF YOUR SISTER THIS INSTANT!!" Kim Ann pulled her son off of his sister and stared at him. "Are you crazy, you could have smothered her"
"I didn't smuffer her momma I tooted on her"
Kim Ann tried not to laugh as her son confessed what he had done. She was usually the strict one while Nick was constantly at her to let the twins be kids. "Molly are you okay?"
"Yes Momma" and Molly stood up and smacked her brother "Alex you are mean"
"ENOUGH, both of you...you are both going to head upstairs and brush your teeth and get into your pajamas and go to bed, no story for either of you tonight. I want you to think long and hard about how bad you would feel if you hurt one another" Kim Ann pointed to the stairs and shooed her two children upstairs. She walked over to the ringing phone "Hello"
"Baby, is everything alright?" Nick's voice instantly put Kim Ann at ease.
"Nick it is so good to hear from you...ALEX I SAID IN BED NOW!! Sorry baby"
"I take it the munchkin brigade is acting up?"
"Your son sat on Molly's head and farted on her"
Nick burst out laughing but quickly tried to act upset "Do you want me to talk to him?"
"No, I don't want them going to bed thinking that the only reason their dad called them was to give them shit, let them hate me for a bit, so how was the press conference?"
"Typical, hey baby have you talked to Crissy lately?"
"She left a message at the office but I got busy and forgot to call her back, why?"
"Well I just got off the phone with Brent and it appears that the two of them are getting married"
"Brent and Crissy...come on you are kidding me right?"
"Kymmi they have been together for 3 years, I think it is about time that they get married."
"You and I have been together almost 6 years and we aren't married." Kim Ann bit her lip when she realised what she had just blurted out. "So is Crissy happy?" Kim Ann tried to change the subject.
"Brent is" Nick was letting his girlfriend's words sink in "Baby I have to go, I am running late, will you be up later?"
"It's Friday night baby."
"Ah yes, the night you all get drunk and talk about us all. Call me when you get home..please?"
" I will baby, though I cannot promise how alert and how sober I will be, you know Jess and Skylar they are bad influences on me" Kim Ann teased.
"More like you are the bad influence. I love you sweet pea"
"I love you too"

Skylar was walking out of the elevator, tucking in her shirt when she ran into Denise. "Denise, how are you?" Skylar embraced the woman.
"I am great, you look fabulous Sky, my goodness you got your figure back fast, I am still trying to lose the baby fat I gained with Alex" The two women grew silent as Alex's name came up. "What are you doing in this part of town..isn't tonight ladies night?"
"I am on my way now, I have a friend in this building, Denise why don't you join us for a couple of drinks, I am sure the girls would love to see you" Skylar rested her hand on Denise's arm as she tried to persuade her.
" Were you wrestling up there?" Denise asked, taking in Skylar's disheveled appearance.
Skylar grew nervous "ummm I spilled a drink on my shirt and I have spent the last 20 minutes using a blow dryer to try to dry the wet spot, guess I just got flustered. So will you join us?"
"I couldn't intrude" Denise replied as she tried to comprehend the obvious lie that Skylar had just told her.
"Ridiculous..you are coming with me" Skylar and Denise walked out of the building and got into Skylar's car.
"So how is work going?" Denise asked.
"Busy, I love it though, I have made some great friends and it does me good to get out from the kids a couple of hours a day."
"You are definately more alive and peppy then you were before the babies birth. It is nice to see you so happy"
"Thanks Denise, it feels wonderful to be living life again" Skylar smiled at
the thought of how alive she really was.
