AJ rested his head against the headboard and watched his girlfriend sleep. Her eyelids fluttered and her breathing was even. The past 4 days had been rough on them both and he was relieved that she was finally resting. She had bottled up her emotions and had kept busy all week. AJ knew that it was because she was scared of the operation and radiation but he wished that she would open up to him and let him know what she was thinking. He looked at the clock on the bedside table, it read 6:45. They had to be at the hospital for 8 am and he knew that she would want to take a shower before. He leaned over her and gently kissed her forehead and whispered "Chipper we have to get ready to leave, come on baby"
Molly rolled over and looked at AJ. His eyes were filled with the fear that was racking her body. She wished that she could cuddle up in his arms and dream that if he held her tight enough that their love would chase away the cancer. "I am going to go take a bath" Molly kissed AJ and crawled out of bed. As she walked down the hall she had to grab the wall to support herself so that her knees didn't buckle from fright. She had spent more than an hour on the phone with her mother last night and while her mother told her to be strong and that she would get through it, Molly knew that she was scared and reliving the past with thoughts of how cancer had killed Molly's father.
"She is so scared, god I wish I could kiss her and make her all better. Why does God see it fit to let horrible things happen to such kind and wonderful people." AJ wiped the ever present tears from his eyes and walked down the hall to check on Molly. He opened the bathroom door and saw her crying in the tub. AJ quickly stripped and climbed into the tub with her. Holding her tight and telling her that they would get through it together.

"Baby can you watch Hannah for a while, I really want to be at the hospital for AJ this morning, he is going to need us there while he waits for Molly to get out of surgery." Skylar was standing over Kevin, who had just woken up and holding Hannah. "She has been fed and if I am not home in time for her feedings, I pumped so there are bottles in the fridge."
"Call me when you find out something, please" Kevin kissed his wife and watched her leave the room. "So princess it is just you and me, how about we cuddle for a bit so daddy can rest some more" Kevin smiled at his baby daughter and kissed her as he laid her down beside him.

"Okay Denise we will meet you at the hospital in 20 minutes" Howie hung up the phone and looked out at the dock where Jessi was typing furiously on her laptop. She had woken up at 4 am filled with great ideas for her book and she had been out there ever since. He ran out to the dock to tell her the plans and the two ran back into the house, grabbed the car keys and were off to the hospital.

"You can do this baby, I promise you can do this" AJ held onto Molly's hand tightly as they walked into the cancer clinic. Her body was trembling and the sweat was making her palms damp and her forehead and face flush. They walked to the receptionist and AJ spoke "This is Molly Timmons, she has a lumpectomy scheduled for 9 am" AJ's voice quivered as he talked to the receptionist.
The young woman smiled at Molly "Follow me Molly, we will get you changed and then the doctor will meet with you to discuss the procedure."
Molly looked at AJ "Can my boyfriend come with me?"
"Yes, but he will have to leave when we start prepping you for surgery" The couple held onto each other tightly as they followed the receptionist down the hall.

"OOH baby I love when you flash me like that" AJ tried to make a joke and clear the air in the room as they waited for the surgeon to come in and talk to Molly. She was dressed in the hospital gown that opened at the front and the sweat was quickly soaking through it.
Molly laughed feebly and stared at the man whom she loved "Alex you know I love with you all my heart right, and you know that I am thankful for everything you have done for me"
AJ walked towards the examination table and sat down beside his girlfriend, stroking her silky long hair and running his fingers over her cool, damp skin "Baby I don't want to hear this, you will have plenty of time to tell me all this when you come out of surgery. I know you love me and I love you with all my being but let's just concentrate on getting you better." AJ gently kissed her lips and pulled her in close, burying his face in her hair. They were interrupted by the arrival of the surgeon.
"Sorry to interrupt. My name is Dr. Jacob Sloane and I will be performing Molly's surgery this morning. So how are you feeling this morning Molly?" The doctor smiled softly at her.
"I am fine, a little scared but other than that I am fine." Molly said weakly.
"Well we will take good care of you. Now we have to get some blood work and then the anesthesiologist will be in to get you prepped for surgery" The doctor turned to AJ "You will have to leave now sir" Molly clawed at AJ, not wanting him to leave " Please Alex don't leave me, please" Molly's face was painted with fear and she was crying.
AJ gently pried himself from her grasp and kissed her "Chipper I will be waiting for you when you when you get out of surgery, remember that I love you and that I am with you every step of the way. If you are feeling afraid just picture me holding you and whispering in your ear. I love you" AJ walked quickly out of the room trying to ignore the sobbing of his girlfriend. He walked down the hall and stopped when he saw Nick, Skylar, Howie, Jessi and his mother sitting in the waiting room waiting for him. His mother looked up and ran towards him as he fell into his arms "Momma I don't think I can do this, she is so weak, I can't leave her alone in there"
Denise held him tight as he cried.

"Ok Molly we are going to administer the injection now, you will feel all
warm and fuzzy and in about 2 minutes you will be asleep." The doctor smiled
at her as she stared at him with a worried face. She started to feel drowsy
and the last thing she remembered seeing before she fell asleep was AJ's
face smiling at her and telling her it was going to be alright. "I Love you
Alex" Molly whispered before she succumbed to the darkness.
