Index page devoted to the Recordings of the Late Seventies supergroup "Fleetwood Mac"

Like many university students in the early 1980's I first heard Fleetwood Mac on the radio, They had previously played in the city where I attended college, prior to my arrival in the autumn of 1980.

Fleetwood Mac     (1975)

My first exposure to this pop-rock supergroup came in late 1980, when I purchased every recording that the Stevie Nicks-Lindsey Buckingham-Christine McVie lineup had released. One of my all-time favorite classic rock recordings, this recording featured: "Rhiannon" (one of the most beautifully haunting songs Stevie Nicks ever composed), "Say You Love Me" (one of Christine McVie's best compositions), and "I'm So Afraid" (one of Lindsey Buckingham's best guitar jams). In any event, not coincidentally these three songs would resurface on their comeback recording of 1997. Additionally, this album also featured: "Monday Morning," "Landslide," "Crystal" and "Warm Ways," (four more of my favorite "Fleetwood Mac" recordings).

Rumours     (1977)

Although this recording sold more than 25 million copies worldwide- it is still a superb album! Combining, pop sensibility with extremely insightful lyrics this is an astonishing work even more than 20 years later. Highlights on this recording, include: "The Chain" (one of their best group compositions), the hauntingly prophetic "Gold Dust Woman" by Stevie Nicks, the exciting Lindsey Buckingham classic "Go Your Own Way, the beautiful Stevie Nick's compositions- "Dreams," and "I Don't Want To Know." Not to mention, the beautiful pop-craftsmanship of Christine McVie on "Don't Stop," (used by then Arkansas governor/now infamous President Clinton as a campaign theme) "Songbird," "You Make Loving Fun" and "I Don't Want To Know."

Tusk     (1979)

What a bizarre album! The cover artwork has very little if anything whatsoever to do with the contents. Highlights, include: "Tusk" and the beautiful Stevie Nicks' composition "Sara."

Fleetwood Mac Live     (1980)

A very good live recording of Fleetwood Mac's best songs!

Mirage     (1982)

No opinion! I do not own it yet!

Tango In The Night     (1987)

No opinion! I do not own it yet!

Greatest Hits     (1988)

Behold! A great selection of hits, but by no means whatsoever a complete catalog of this groups best recordings!

Behind The Mask     (1990)

The Dance     (1997)

A superb return to form, this recording represents the renaissance of Fleetwood Mac, a long-time in coming. Featuring an expansive and much more lyrical version of "Rhiannon," this recording starts off of a very high note with the inclusion of "The Chain." The group has seemed to age quite well with the majority of the songs featured on this recording. The new tracks: 'Temporary One' (a beautiful Christine McVie composition), 'Bleed To Love Her' and 'My Little Demon' (show a more introspective Lindsey Buckingham) and of course pop-priestess Stevie Nick's 'Silver Springs' and 'Sweet Girl' are spectacular! This recording also features a magnificent extended guitar jam in "I'm So Afraid", also new versions of "Everywhere," "Say You Love Me," "You Make Loving Fun" and "Don't Stop." Altogether, this is probably Fleetwood Mac's best live recording! An absolutely welcome return!
