Later Moody Blues page

Hi! Welcome to my homepage!
Caught Live Plus 5 is a great live album representing the Moody Blues earlier work! The cover artwork by Hipgnosis is also quite fantastic! You may need to turn up the volume a notch because the sound appears to have been diminished! However, especially noteworthy tracks are the live interpretations of "Dr. Livingstone, I Presume" from Chord,"The Dream," "Have You Heard (Pt.1)," "The Voyage" and "Have You Heard (Pt.2)"
from Dream, also noteworthy are the live versions of "The Sunset" from Days and "Legend Of a Mind" and "Ride My See-Saw" from Chord! Of the five studio tracks, the best are "King And Queen" and "What Am I Doing Here?"
A major disappointment, if the Moody Blues had
continued in this vein, they would have disappeared! The one less than lackadaisacal song on this is Driftwood, the rest is easily
forgettable!

After Octave, which was quite a disappointment! Mike Pinder left the Moody Blues and was replaced by one-time Yes collaborator- Swiss keyboardist extraordinaire: Patrick Moraz. Moraz first played on Relayer by Yes and also on Yesshows! In any event, the revamped lineup creates their best work since To Our Children's Children's Children!
Long Distance Voyager is wonderful! "The Voice," "Gemini Dream," "Talking Out Of Turn," "22,000 Days," and "Nervous" are fantastic! The cover artwork is also quite nice!
Not as great as Long Distance Voyager, this album still contains a few great songs: "Blue World," "Sitting At The Wheel" and "Meet Me Halfway." This album boasts a great
work of art: a modified "Maxfield Parrish" painting which is set
amidst a temple in the distant future!
The Other Side Of Life contains two great songs: "The Other Side Of Life" and "Your Wildest Dreams." The video for this song is fantastic also!

I know what you're thinking! Why Sur La Mer? Simply put, "Sur La Mer" is one of the better Moody Blues albums, but it has been eliminated from its previous pinnacle by the most recent Moody Blues album.
The songs: "Here Comes The Weekend," "Vintage Wine," "I Know You're Out There Somewhere," "River Of Endless Love," "Breaking Point" and "Miracle" are some of the
Moody Blues' greatest songs!
Other than "Say It With Love," "Bless The Wings (That Bring You Back)" and "Lean On Me (Tonight)," there are not many distinctive songs on this album!
With the accompaniment of the Colorado Symphony Orchestra, the Moody Blues release a very good
live album! Anchored with great live versions of the classics: "Tuesday Afternoon," "Overture," "Late Lament" and "Nights In White Satin" from Days Of Future Passed and "I Know You're Out There Somewhere" from Sur La Mer. The other songs: "Question"," Ride My See Saw", "The Voice"and I'm Just A Singer
help make this the Moody Blues best live album! I just wish they had included another live version of "Legend Of A Mind" and "And The Tide Rushes In."
A magnificent return to form! Strange Times epitomizes some of the Moody Blues best songs to date! There is a strong resemblance to the Beatles best songs on this album. more later on this recording masterpiece!
After seeing the Moody Blues in concert this past October at Desert Sky Pavillion in Phoenix, Arizona- I was hoping to find a live album which might capture this tremendous concert. Although the song list is great, there are a few problems with this particular recording. One in particular-- the omission of "Late Lament" from "Nights In White Satin." Let us hope that a dvd of the Moody Blues comes out this year with this and other songs presented in their complete glory. Other than this minor problem, the rest of the recording is actually pretty decent, although the sound is not as great as I had hoped for.
