Juliana Hatfield

Juliana Hatfield was born in Duxbury, Massachusetts, USA on July 27, 1968. Her first band was a cover band called The Squids in which she was the singer. They played mostly Police and Rush songs. She then formed the Blake Babies with John Strohm (guitar) and Freda Love (drums). In 1987 they released their first album, "Nicely, Nicely" on their own record label Chewbud. "Earwig", "Sunburn", "Rosy Jack World" and "Innocence and Experience" were also released before they broke up in 1991.

Whilst playing with the Blake Babies, Juliana met Evan Dando. They built a strong friendship and Juliana played bass with the Lemonheads for a while, including on "It's A Shame About Ray".

After the Blake Babies split, Juliana went on to release a solo album, "Hey Babe" in 1992. Two EPs followed that release, "Forever Baby" and "I See You". In 1993, "Become What You Are" was brought out by The Juliana Hatfield 3. They were Juliana on vocals and guitar, Dean Fisher on bass and Todd Philips on drums. This album included the hits "My Sister" and "Spin The Bottle" which also featured in the movie "Reality Bites". Juliana's 3rd album was released, "Only Everything", in 1995. This album saw Juliana going solo again, and demonstrates the greatness of her musical talents.

An album called "God's Foot" was recorded, however due to recorded company problems, this album may nver be released.

"Please Do Not Disturb" is an EP which was released in 1998 and a full length album followed soon after by the title "Bed". They are both splendid pieces of work.
