WHAT'S NEW in these pages (2002)

02.11.01 - Great news! I've been told that Micky Waller is playing with some friends at The Eel Pie Club, at The Cabbage Patch Pub, 67 London Road, Twickenham, Middx. On DECEMBER 4th 2002 8.00/8.30pm. This is the text of the whole info I've got:

"Ex Rod Stewart and Jeff Beck drummer plays 'One off' show at The Eel Pie Club, at The Cabbage Patch Pub, London Road, Twickenham on: Wednesday Dec 4th 2002 / 8.30pm.

Mickey Waller is probably most famous for his excellent drumming performances with The Jeff Beck Group and Rod Stewart's solo albums during the 1960s - not least including chart topping reccords: 'Maggie May', 'You Wear It Well' and 'Hi Ho Silver Lining'.

Mickey can also boast one of the most impressive lists of artists that he has played with such as: The Rolling Stones (Chatham Town Hall 1964), Marty Wilde, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Georgie Fame, Alan Price and a rare USA performance with Jimi Hendrix and Jeff Beck playing bass guitar!

On Wednesday December 4th Mickey is to play a 'One Off' show at Twickenham's Eel Pie Club, the same venue that surprised an unsuspecting audience with a guest appearance from Ronnie Wood, not so long ago.

The show is not aimed at being a celebrity showcase but a unique opportunity to join an evening of the Rock 'n Roll / Rhythm 'n Blues that planted so many of the great aforementioned artists so firmly at the top of today's Rock 'n Roll family tree.

Mickey's band currently features his Drummer friend Mark Freeman on Rhythm Guitar, - Noel Brown (See Graham Parker's earlyy Rumour albums) on Lead & Slide guitar, Keith Grant of The Legendary Downliner Sect plays Bass Guitar and Brian Short (From Paul Kossof- former free guitarist's original band 'The Black Cat Bones') on Keyboards. Other, unnamed guests are also expected to appear.

Do not miss this great opportunity to join what is likely to be a 'One Off' and memorable evening.

Admission: £ 7 (£5 Eel Pie Club Members) Enquiries to: 020 8892 6763"

(My note: you should check it out with the venue. I just include the info as I got it)

Special thanks to Mark Freeman.

02.08.10 - More sad losses for rock community. Paul Samson, leader of Samson, died yesterday, ill from cancer. He was in my Olympus list but I still hadn't made my pages on him. He's already mentioned in my pages about Ian Ellis, Neil Murray and Don Airey. Thanks to Alex Gitlin.

02.07.23 - Again, very sad news. Producer and engineer Gus Dudgeon died yesterday in a car crash. His wife Sheila also died. What a tragedy! He was so talented. I grew up listening to many of the albums where he worked, especially the Elton John classic albums, as well as the John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers albums with Eric Clapton and Peter Green; also David Bowie's Space Oddity, Ten Years After debut album, and many more. All these musicians from my site appear in albums where Gus worked: Peter Green, Aynsley Dunbar, Clem Clempson, Keef Hartley, Chris Mercer, Morris Pert, Keith Gemmell, BJ Cole, Katie Kissoon, Nick Pentelow, Caleb Quaye, John Gustafson, John Cambridge, Tim Renwick, Mick Wayne, Geoff Whitehorn, Tony Visconti, Doreen Chanter, Pat Donaldson, Henry Spinetti, Mick Weaver, Stevie Lange.

02.05.18 - I've decided it's useless being accumulating pages that remain hidden for years, until I find the time to scan all the albums and photos I have somewhere. So, I'm going to put these pages available from now on. You can find the list of new, "almost-finished" pages in the main index, under the "New pages" link. I hope you'll enjoy them.

02.05.17 - Yesterday, the great Jim Dewar died. I made my pages on him 3 years ago, but never published them. Today, I make them public as a tribute to him. Rest in peace, Jimmy.

02.04.04 - Added 2 more lineups for Chris Mercer (Frankie Miller's Full House).

02.04.03 - Added a new band for Miller Anderson (X.T.Rex).

02.04.02 - Added info about another band for Jimmy McCulloch (Bent Frame / Jimmy McCulloch Band). Special thanks to Christer Fridhammar.

02.04.01 - I'm going to try to find free time to work in my site again. So, even still at a slow pace, I'm going to be reflecting lots of changes that I've been accumulating for the last 15 months. Are you ready? :)

02.01.23 - Yesterday, it was a sad day for music. Keyboardist Peter Bardens left us, after a hard fight against cancer. He is included in my Olympus list from the very beginning. Meanwhile, you can find him mentioned in all these pages in my site, as he played with all these guys: bands with: Peter Green, Bobby Tench, Herbie Armstrong, Katie Kissoon, Laura Creamer, Jim Cregan, Morgan Fisher, Bruce Thomas. As well as sessions with: Pat Donaldson, Francis Monkman, Kenny Young. Rest in peace. Thanks to Alex Gitlin.

02.01.01 - HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone! Again, a new year in The Musicians' Olympus. Sadly, I'll still keep "frozen" my site for several months, due to work commitments, but I'll keep on working on the background, and as soon as I can, I'll be able to reflect all the new info I'm collecting.
