A Force You Want to Relinquish-Chapter 10
" It's okay Cris. We'll be waiting here," Darren said softly into the
receiver and hung up the phone. He had been in the hospital at first hearing
of Daniel's arrival, with Colby and Michelle, who lay curled up on the waiting
room couch, sobbing quietly in her breakable sleep. Colby sat beside her and
looked up at Darren, dismayed. " Poor thing. She cried herself to sleep,"
she sighed.
Darren sat down. " Daniel's parents and brothers will be here soon. Cris
isn't taking it well, pretty much breaking down," responded Darren. Colby
shook her head. " They just don't know what's wrong with him. I heard them
say..." her voice was weary as she heard Michelle break into another sob. "
Please, don't take him away!" Darren bowed his head sorrowfully. " My best
friend."
The rest of the Jones family had gathered in the waiting room a few hours
later, just waiting, crying and praying. In the early morning hours, a man
finally entered the room. " May I see the family of Daniel Jones?" he asked
quietly. In his face and voice were only a deep, unearthly sadness.
