-A new variation on the beLIEve shirt, it has MARILYN MANSON on the front
with three different Pope faces: One covering his eyes, one covering his
mouth, and one covering his ears. The three faces are right next to each
other and say below them "See no Truth, Speak No Truth, Hear No Truth" -
it's rather sad how much of a knockoff of the beLIEve shirt this is. It was
probably a bootleg. Oh, the back says "You never ever beLIEved in me..."
If anybody has trouble picturing what this shirt looks like, you can see it
for yourself when it isn't sold at the show that hasn't happened.
-A regular picture of the Pope in his tupperware car waving at people in the
streets. The twist is that somebody has taken the normal picture and
doctored it with what looks to be a black permanent marker, drawing eyeliner
and lipstick on the Pope, writing 666 on his forehead and sketching a
crudely drawn phallus in his genital region. On the back is the phrase
"FAGGOT ANTI-POPE" in a childish scrawl much like the writing on the God Of
Fuck shirt. There is no mention of Marilyn Manson anywhere on this T-shirt.
It is almost definitely a bootleg.
-A wonderful shirt that I saw a few days after the show; this one had a
live picture from the show of Mr. Manson with his "scabbed wings" on,
standing before the crowd with the typical spread-arms pose. However, he
has just finished fucking the nameless female guitarist and his member is
still hanging out of his pants. Above the picture are the words "Marilyn
Manson", below it "Superfuck". I had no clue what this had to do with the
Pope until I saw the back, which has a picture of John Paul II giving a
thumbs-up sign with a cartoon bubble coming out of his mouth that says "God
is in his holy temple..." I liked this shirt, but I don't see what the hell
possessed them to make it.
-A shirt that has a picture of the Pope's face (w/ his huge hat on). He has
a very stern look on his face and it says "Antichrist" above him and
"Superstar" below him. On the back are the words "Who in the world do you
think you are?" Strangely enough, the left sleeve has the MM monster logo
on it and the right sleeve has the MM Wonka logo.
-A definite bootleg, this shirt has a cartoon of a frantic-looking Pope in
his balcony looking down at a stage of deathly-looking rockers. The Pope is
grabbing an assistant by the collar and shouting "MANSON?!? I thought they
said HANSON!!!" (Most of you will remember this cartoon as it wasn't
syndicated and placed in newspapers across the US when the nonexistant Pope
Birthday show wasn't publicly announced.)
That's about it for the t-shirts. There are some great shots of Manson and
the Pope together in this magazine that I didn't buy when I wasn't in the
Vatican, though. My favorite pic is the one of Manson and the Pope together
in the Pope's bedroom. Manson is going through the Pope's closet, trying on
all of his neato clothes while the Pope is smiling, sitting on his bed in
black jeans and a white t-shirt that says "Kiss me, I'm Polish." There's
another great one of Manson wearing the Pope's big hat and robes while the
Pope sits in the corner snickering (I know it doesn't sound so great, but
you have to take into account that the Pope has on fishnets and a bright
green Twiggy-esque little-girl dress in the pic as well.)
infidel: if you need more details on these t-shirts, e-mail my friend Jenny.
She has a better memory then I do.
As always,
Thy JoiK
