CHICAGO. Peter Cetera - bass, vocals; Terry Kath - guitar, vocals; Robert Lamm - keyboards, vocals; Lee Loughnane - trumpet, vocals; James Pankow - trombone; Walter Parazaider - woodwind; Daniel Seraphine - drums. Formed in 1967 as The Chicago Transit Authority, they shortened the name in 1969. They followed in the mould of Blood Sweat And Tears, fusing improvisational jazz with their own blend of soft rock. Their rise from club band to international stars was swift. Their debut album was the first to go platinum for Columbia - a feat they were able to acheive on a staggering 12 consecutive albums! They continued through the seventies as one of the biggest grossing bands in the world but tragedy struck in 1978 when Terry Kath died in a handgun accident. The band continued but interest slowly began to wane and by 1986, Peter Cetera had left to follow a solo career.
