Annie stared at the ceiling of her and Brian's bedroom. ' I should've
questioned A.J. last night, maybe somebody would've finally told me what was
going on in this house,' she sighed and rolled over to face Brian.
He wasn't smiling, like he usually does in his sleep. It looked like
something was troubling him and normally she would brush it off, but his
strange behavior last night made her believe something was wrong.
' What is he not telling me? We usually tell each other everything, then
again, maybe he has to work this out on his own. It probably has nothing to
do with me and he just doesn't want to get me worried. Yeah, that's all it
is,' she frowned, not satisfied with her conclusion, but it had to do until
Brian decided to tell her.
"Hey, " Brian smiled sleepily, "how long have you been up?"
"A while,"
"Doing what?"
"Well, aren't we the detective this morning? I was thinking," she said
simply.
"About...?" he urged her on.
"Us," she smiled.
"You really like to tease me don't you?"
"I try my best, now --" she was cut off by crying in the next room, "duty
calls," she was about to get up when Brian pushed her back down.
"Nope, you stay here, I'll get him," he got up and rushed to the next
room.
'Maybe it's just my imagination, he's fine,' she thought, 'and he's
wondrful. I can't wait to make him my husband.'
"Morning Lina," Annie greeted her friend.
Lina looked up from the paper she was reading, "Uh, hey."
Annie looked at her, "What's up?"
"Um, same old, same old. So, "Lina said changing the subject, " when am I
going back to the hospital?" she asked.
"Hmm, when I get back. I can't find Anthony's bottles anywhere, I'm going
to run to the store and pick up some," she said just as Brian walked in the
kitchen, clad in only his boxers.
He wrapped his arms around Annie's waist, "And where is this lovely lady
going so early in the morning?"
She laughed, "I have to pick up some bottles for Tony."
"Don't you breast feed him?"
"Yes, I do. I need the bottles to put the milk in, I doubt Kim can breast
feed him, while I'm not here."
"Oh, OK, well, hurry back," he said and nuzzled her neck.
"I can't do that until you let me go."
"I don't wanna," he said in a like a little boy.
"Your son is going to starve if you don't let me go."
"OK, fine," he released his grip on her.
"See ya in five minutes," she grabbed her keys and left.
As soon as she was out the door Brian grabbed his cell phone and dialed a
number.
"Hello?" someone on the other line picked up.
"Hey, sweetie, I miss you already."
He could almost feel her smiling through the phone, "Oh, you. I love you,
I gotta go."
"OK, see you in five, bye."
"Bye, love."
He laughed and pushed end on his cell phone tossing it to the couch.
"Could you be more sickening?" Lina asked, coming into the living room.
"What are you talking about?"
"You! You kiss me and now you're acting all lovey dovey with Annie, like
nothing happened," she said angrily and sat on the ouch.
"Well, how am I supposed to act? What am I supposed to do? Throw away my
whole life for one little kiss? That was harmless, might I add!" he defended
sitting next to her, "I don't even have feelings for you!"
Lina looked down, "Well, what if I have feelings for you?"
Brian stared at her, "W-what? You can't feel anything for me!"
"I know! But I do and from your stupid kiss! I kissed back!"
"So you did kiss back! I knew I felt something, but we can't have
anything here. I mean there's no chance in a relationship, I love Annie and
no one else."
"Well, what if I told you I can't?"
"Then you're going to have to have to."
"But I can't!"
"I'm sorry, but I didn't mean for that simple little kiss to evolve into
anything, I just did it to see if I liked you in any way possible."
Lina bit her lip, "I see," she said. She couldn't stop staring at his
lips, longing for them to touch hers. It was like some kind of spell, even if
she couldn't have him, one kiss couldn't hurt. Could it?
~Annie's view~
I wasn't half way down the street when I realized I had left my purse at
home.
"Damnit all!" I cursed doing a U-turn.
I pulled back up the house and grabbed my keys out of the ignition. ' Maybe
I'll just take Lina with me, this time. No use making two trips, ' I thought
running up the door.
Once I got inside, it seemed a little quiet for a baby and two adults to
be in a house.
I shrugged it off and went into the living room where I remembered
leaving my purse.
What I saw on the couch was not my purse, in those two seconds, I felt my
heart being ripped out, stomped on, and thrown in the garbage, like a useless
piece of trash.
