I stood there, looking on as my fiancee and best friend engaged in a lip
lock. I cleared my throat. Lina was the first to look at me, I saw her jaw
slack and her eyes go wide seeing me there.
"Ohmigod, Annie --" she started, but was cut off, by Brian.
"Oh lord, honey, sweetie," he started calling off any pet name he had
used to call me.
I put my hand up, "Don't. Just don't. Before I get mad and blow things
out of proportion, I'll give you a chance to explain," I said calmly. I
amazed myself at how calm I was and I think I surprised Brian because he sat
there for a minute.
"Oh geez, hun, this isn't what it seems. Lina kissed me! I had no idea
she was going to do that."
I crossed my arms and glared at him, "Well, you seemed to be doing a
pretty good job of stopping her," I said sarcastically.
"Baby, she caught me off guard. She just came in here and kissed me and I
had no idea what she was doing," he explained and Lina snorted, we both
looked at her. If looks could kill, Lina would be six feet under by the look
Brian gave her, but I paid no mind to that.
"You don't know Brian. You don't know what I went through those couple of
seconds seeing you two there, kissing. It hurt and I'm not talking about
emotional pain, I mean physical pain. Did you hear me? It physically hurt me
to see you with another woman, who also happens to be my best friend. I would
be out that door in a heart beat if it were different. But you know what's
keeping me here? Anthony. Yeah you heard me, Anthony. I can't do that to him,
I'm not willing to throw away my life and his because you can't keep your
hands off her. He deserves a father and you are the only one who can be that
to him, Brian, " I stopped to take a breath. I refused to cry in front of him
or Lina. "And as long as it happened only once it's -- OH MY GOD it happened
more than once?" I asked seeing the look on they're faces.
"I swear it only happened those two times!" Brian cried. His tears
started to fall half way through my speech.
"Oh God! I can't believe you! And what did Lina kiss you that time too?"
"No, I wanted to see if I had feelings for her, so I --"
"So you what?! You kissed her! You shouldn't FEEL anything for her, she's
my best friend! And furthermore she's not ME! That must've been the dumbest
thing you've done," I laughed, "well, you're a living example of the saying
dumb blonde!"
"Annie, I'm sorry for everything. I did kiss Brian this time and I kissed
back the last time too, but he wanted to see if he liked me, it wasn't his
fault," Lina pleaded for me to listen.
I took a deep breath, "Do you know how bad I want to throw this ring at
you and say it's over?!" I said through clenched teeth.
"Well, --"
"It was a rhetorical question!"
"God, Ann, I'm sorry, please forgive me. I wasn't thinking straight,"
Brian said and dropped to his knees grabbing my legs.
I almost melted from his touch. Almost. I shook him off my leg, "I'm
going out," I said and went upstairs and Brian was right behind me.
"Sweetie, what are you doing?" he asked getting worried seeing me start
to pack the baby bag.
"Anthony and I are going to think. I'm taking him with me in case you
feel like gettin' it on with Lina," I said throwing diapers and toys into the
bag.
"I DON'T LIKE HER!" he yelled, causing me to stop.
I turned around and looked at him, "Brian Thomas Littrell you are in NO
position to yell at me! I'm not going to stand her and take this from you," I
carefully picked up Anthony and grabbed the baby bag, pushing past Brian.
"Do you forgive me?" he asked once we were at the bottom of the stairs.
I looked at him with tears in my eyes.
"Oh God, I'm sorry. The kiss meant nothing to me, if I could I would take
it all back in an instant."
"Brian! Don't you see? It's not the kiss that bothers me!"
"Then what is it?" his eyes pleaded for me to give him an answer.
I sighed, "It's the fact that you lied to me about it. I thought we could
tell each other anything," I whispered, going out the door.
About half an hour later I pulled up to A.J.'s house. I sat in the car
with my hands on the steering wheel for a minute then I turned to look in the
back seat.
"Mommy will be right back, OK?" I smiled when Anthony grabbed my finger.
I couldn't give A.J. a piece of my mind with a baby in my hands, so I decided
leaving in the car for two seconds wouldn't hurt.
I jogged up the door and rang the doorbell.
"Hey Ann, what are --" he started, but was cut off by my hand coming
across his face.
"I can't believe you!" I yelled staring at him in disbelief.
