ROCKERS CLAIM RAINFOREST

April 13, 1995 - Associated Press

(NEW YORK)--Rockers have raised a record amount of money to save the rainforest. Preliminary estimates show Sting, Jon Bon Jovi, Elton John, James Taylor, and Bruce Springsteen helped bring in 1.3 million at a sold-out concert at New York's Carnegie Hall last night. They told donors "it's now or never" during the grand finale. The songs in the concert pay tribute to the music of the 50's. A spokesman for the Rainforest Foundation says they chose the theme because over half the world's rainforests have been destroyed since the 1950's.
