CARNIVAL! TO BENEFIT RAINFOREST FOUNDATION

April 29, 1997 - Associated Press

By Margie Szaroleta

(NEW YORK)--Just call it "music to save trees by." "Carnival!" is a collection of songs by some of the biggest names in music to raise funds for the Rainforest Foundation. The project is the brainchild of Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, who also founded the Rainforest Foundation. The album features songs from Madonna, Bette Midler, The Chieftains, Shawn Colvin, Elton John, Annie Lenox, Paul Simon, Tina Turner, and James Taylor, not to mention Sting and a slew of world music performers and top classical artists. It's a strange mix, but Sting says that's what makes it work as he put it, "what hangs it together is the commitment of the artists."
