(LONDON)--The Caribbean Island of Montserrat is about to get some big-name help. Eric Clapton, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Mark Knopfler, and Sting are among those who have signed up for a benefit concert to help victims of the island's volcanic eruptions. Producer George Martin says the concert will be in London on September 15th, with tickets selling for about 40 to 160 dollars each. Martin once had a studio on Montserrat called AIR Studios, but it was destroyed by hurricane Hugo in 1989. The musicians who are participating in the concert are among those who recorded there, which appealed to them because laid-back islanders treated them like ordinary residents. Nearly half of the island's 11-thousand residents have fled since it began erupting in July 1995.
