Hard Rock Café - Buenos Aires, Argentina

by Nacho on October 11, 1997

Well, last night Andy played in Buenos Aires, in the Hard Rock Café. 300 people came to see him. He was not in a great humour. He perform an acoustic duo with argentine guitarrist Oscar Viglione. The show last only 45 minutes. He played some songs of World gone Strange -he started with that song- and a few jazz covers of Charlie Mingus. He did a great version of Night in Tunisia. But, i'm afraid his humour was absent. I thought he will talk with the audience, but he said only a few words. The sound was not so good, there were a lot of noises, and for 2 times, the sound failed. The second time, he put an ugly face, and even missing 3 songs, he left the stage.

The audience were waiting for a few Police tunes. In 1995, he did here a show with John Etheridge, and he performed Message in a Bottle, Murder by numbers, and also sung So Lonely for the encore. Yesterday, it wasn't his night. But of course, i was glad to see him playing. He is a great musician, and it's very emotive to see him on stage. In the next days, i will post an interview of the journal Página 12. There, he says: "The police, sounds to me as past".
